Practical ways to cast far

Well I have tried out a new place that I have had decent luck at, the only problem is that the big fish are all jumping way out in the middle. Where I need the lure to go is around 150 feet out there. I put TONS of weight on it and still couldn't yank it out far enough. Any suggestions would help (even crazy ones).

probably plenty of fish along shore, structure, and cover, and fish you see jumping aren't always game fish.

That said.... a 1oz line through tail spinner like Wahoo Wingding is about as good a missile bait as any... when I need to reach out and touch something, that's what I tie on.

You of course need a good rod and reel and line to cast well and accurate at large distances as well.

You say you put tons of weight on, what did you put it on exactly? Are you fishing with bait? You're probably better off focusing your efforts on finding the fish closer to shore though... that is where I catch most of my biggest fish. What are you fishing for, where, and with what?

The problem is that there isn't very much bank access at all. I am fishing off about the best casting place on the pond, it is a little point. My baitcaster is a Abu Garcia Revo S3 on a Veritas, and I have two light spinning reels. Fishing for bass mostly but if the bites are slow I target bluegill. I did get a 3 pound bass along some cattails but that was all from there. I am fishing with some 4 or 5 inch swimbaits such as the KVD Perfect Plastics or Fluke's version of the swimbait. I was fishing them Texas rigged with a decent sized tungsten weight.

Forgot to mention that the pole is a medium 7 footer with micro guides. Line is 12 pound mono I think.

Back when I had 6lb. line on my spinning reel I could cast ridiculously far but then good luck landing a serious fish and fighting it all the way back from that far with mono. You might get away with 20/6 braid I have heard its 20lb strength and 6lb. diameter it might cast pretty good but I have never used it. Good luck.

I probably should invest in a medium action spinning rod, the swimbaits even as light as they are feel like they may snap the rod haha.

You have to quickly put the rod behind your back and cast forward.
This quick motion will cause a slingshot effect and you cast far.
Some people can do this and some cant. Its like using your rod and reel as a golf club.

with spinning rods you'll want to execute a very strong forward cast, usually side arm for me, you will need to use your off hand as a fulcrum to pull the butt of the rod back and create a very fast tip movement to really launch it. With a bait caster, I get my best casts using a backhand side arm cast with my wrist locked and using my forearm as a large lever.

again though, seeing fish jump doesn't mean it is bass, carp will jump, catfish will jump... and it doesn't mean you can catch them if you se them jump somewhere. Activity is almost always a good sign, but you're using LURES. The idea is they bring the fish to them, you don't have to bring them right to the fish to catch that fish. You can pull them to you as well.

Like I said though, if you want to reach out and touch some fish... a wing ding will get you out there. It's basically a 1oz slap of lead you're launching with a treble hook and and a Colorado blade, you may as well be throwing a casting weight only. All weight and super compact, it is the artillery of bank fishing baits haha

Light lines, larger guides, longer rods, good timing on the release and loading the rod properly are all important

Do you have some waders? Be careful if you get some, sometimes pond mud is like quicksand.

Other options:

Get a high quality balloon, blow it up, and attach it to your fishing line about two feet above an octopus hook baited with a worm or shiner. Put some split shot between the balloon and hook. Let the wind blow the balloon as far as you want. Watch the balloon. The best line for this technique is braid--no stretch, so when letting a lot of line out, easier to get a decent hookset.

I'm almost 100% positive that they are bass, and part of the reason they aren't along the point and or bank is because very large dogs jump in the water about every 15 minutes. Most of the owners respect that I'm fishing and keep their dogs away, but after getting spooked every hour of every day, my guess is that the fish would find a new spot. I did find a 1oz humdinger that I'm gonna use.

I really want to get a good light rod and reel and catch some ultralight carp, just can't find em. Thanks.

I would do something like the waders but it is fairly deep and there is a "No Wading or Swimming" sign right by my fishing spot.

I might look into some balloons though.
