I was out there (at lavon) one evening fishing one boat over from duck_jerky (from this forum) and he had sandies hitting his bobber..... When they are schooling and going crazy I think they'd hit a bottle cap. One day I'm gonna just throw out a bare hook and see if I catch any
.During the summer I usually would get there about 4:45pm (after work) and it seemed like they really turned on around 5:15-5:30. I would fish until about 8 or so. I never did too good in the mornings . I usually fished with white in line spinners or pet spoons. I would attach a pretty good size weight so you could cast as far as you could and put a bobber about 3 ft up or so to keep it off the bottom. Some days they would like a fast retrieve and some days they would like it slower. I have also had good luck with sassy shad..mostly with pure white or white and black. I've seen everything used there...rattle traps, tube jigs, spinners...As far as tackle, I used spinning gear with about 8lbs test line.. I have caught them on much smaller and actually enjoy it more but always forget to bring it. As for distance from the output, I always found that if you can cast into the current you will have better luck...so most areas around the perimiter would be a good place. I have seen them school all over the place around the power plant.....It will produce well in the spring and fall, doesn't produce much in the summer as it gets too hot. I have only fished it once this winter and didn't catch any,, but I didn't stay long. I have not heard any good reports coming out of there either. I really thought it would be a hot spot this winter but I think I might be wrong......3 months or so until crappie start spawning...can't wait
