Squaw Creek

Squaw Creek - 10/03/22 01:15 AM

Squaw Creek opened this weekend and I tried some bank fishing for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday. Although I tried a lot of different bait, I didn’t catch a single fish. I fished several spots where I have done good in the past, but without success. There were more bank anglers there than I have ever seen. I only saw one tilapia caught. Hopefully other bank anglers had better success than I did roflmao . In contrast, all the boat anglers I talked to said they caught lots of bass. Maybe when it cools off the bank fishing will get better.

What were you looking to catch? In years past I have seen a lot of carp there.

I was fishing for largemouth bass, catfish, carp, and tilapia. Not necessarily in that order. roflmao

roflmao I was fly fishing, rod and reel fishing, and Plnor fishing all at the same time. Nada. I hate getting skunked and couldn’t even catch a sunfish to break the skunk.

Water temp in that portion of the lake is 88 or so degrees…
personally, I would wait for much colder weather to fish squaw from bank.

I don’t think there are any buffalo in Squaw Creek. But you will see some carp pictures in the future when the weather cools off. bouncy

Dang sir, just reading this - that is tough fishing.
Had looked at the Squaw Creek lake records a couple days ago and looked like you have half of them. confused 3
Better luck next time, you’ll get ‘em.

I really enjoy fishing at Squaw Creek. And I have stumbled over a few records there over the years.

I went back to fish Squaw Creek on Saturday. There were lots of people bank fishing and all of my normal spots were taken. I only had 2 hours to fish. I caught a largemouth bass and freshwater drum. I saw tilapia caught, but did not catch any myself. Bank fishing conditions are definitely improving.
