Hello fellow anglers, does anyone have a white bass report on the Trinity river at the lock and dam?

The river has been high and muddy lately. It's just not getting back to somewhat normal levels. I doubt anyone has been doing anything down there recently

Thanks guys, down through the years there have been some great videos as well as great reports om the white bass run at the lock and dam. The lock and dam is on my bucket list and I am ready to try a new location. I believe late February would be the ideal time to go if the conditions are favorable.

I searched this out on Google maps and there sure are a lot of sewer water treatment plants on the shores of the Trinity.

Thanks Rickt300. I worked in the water department and I know that smaller towns sewer treatment plants discharge water is not as clean as the larger cities waste water discharge. We recycled some of our waste water and used it on golf courses.

Forgot to add wrecking yards and landfills. Fort Worth is the worst offender, Arlington's land fill drains into the Trinity and the huge landfill by Kennedale drains into village creek then into Lake Arlington. We are a messy creature.

I would think all of that water is contaminated and it should be from the downtown dallas. I don't think they filter the water at any point in between

It saddens me that we do not do a better job on protecting out water ways. With all of the technology that's available our rivers, lakes and streams shouldn't be so polluted. I've heard good reports on the lock and dam. I like the challenge of fishing new locations. You get to meet people you wouldn't otherwise meet. on the banks of the lakes and rivers is where you will meet some of the nicest people who are always willing to share their knowledge and experiences. It is time to get really serious about the white bass run. I think it could be a short run this season. The geese are already heading back north. and some of the area trees are budding out. These are some of the signs that we would see in late February and early March.

We fished the "lock&dam" many years ago and the river always had that sewer plant treated water smell to it. The warmer it got the worse the smell.. I've been a couple of times more recently but just don't like the color of that river along that section. I can remember a January 1980 trip down there when you could drive back along the river through the mud. We started fishing where the truck veered off the road and picked a parking spot itself. Steep banks and mud go well together.. We filled two stringers that day that we could barely get back up to the truck and cleaned fish for seemed like forever.. Twenty year old me did that stuff all the time.. Good times for sure... smile My little green Datsun pickup was covered with black mud from tip to tail as were we.. I had just paid $120.00 for a very special wax sealant polish job that washed loose with the mud the next day.. live and learn..

Great story! I tried fishing these banks one time. After about 10 minutes of fishing and not catching anything I slid down the banks and almost couldn't make it out. I left and never went back. I prefer smaller creeks and streams.

Everyone is waiting for enough rain to create a good creek flow and lake rise to trigger the run. If that do not happen in the next few weeks the rives, lake points and sandy beach will probably be our only options for satisfying our hunger for the white hook set.

it was on hot and heavy about 10 days before the freeze. I think I read they were catching them starting last Friday. If this rain doesn't cause a rise we should see a few fish caught.
Tight lines!
