scubaarachery - decent video - I will say - i always have super duper, mepps, and kastmaster on hand. Though for me - mousetails will usually outfish everything on these stockers, followed by flies, then dough/corn, and then lures.

1) kastmaster - hands down best lure you can can easily use if there is a strong wind/breeze - simply because it is usually the only one you can get out to where you need it smile
2) super duper - is tried, true, and consistent - and probably best for the stocked trout
3) mepps - they seem to like the action more when they are sensitive to a bite (at least for me).

If i had to choose two lures for the stockers it would be a gold super + gold Kastmaster - given how much wind we see on some days.

Keep lures, flies, and baits handy as the trout get picky sometimes. Super Duper works well. toastmasters is awesome on this windy days, also makes for a nice lead spoon with a trailing fly when fishing a tandem rig spoon and fly rig. Also, have rooster tails in the mix.

For Super Supers, get asked the question almost every season... how we fish them... here is the post on our blog that we used to answer the question. May be of interest to some.

Fishing a Super Duper...

Kastmaster in either silver/blue or gold. Those seem to work best where I fish. I've tried Super Dupers but have not gotten a strike on them. For bait I like FireBalls.

I like small silver or gold spoons and for bait orange Power Bait dough balls.

What size Kastmaster do you typically use?

Depends on how much wind and how far out i want to go - but for trout - usually the smaller/smallest you can go the better. Don't get me wrong - trout (just like every other fish/predator) have eyes that are bigger than their stomach... I've caught a stocker on a lure that was like 1/4 the length of the trout (when i was trying for a big bass i was watching) - but it is super unusual.

I've been using kastmasters for years before moving here (in saltwater - specifically they were/are my favorite lure for snapper runs) so already had a variety of sizes and usually keep 2'ish of each size/color I like - since I usually only loose one or two a year either with trout or whitebass.

Super duper -- gold, silver, chrome, bronze, or any of those with a red stripe. I have a few leftover from last year but couldn't find any online when searching over the summer/fall. Will be trying out some new patterns this year because the only ones in stock were different colors (chrome w/blue stripe, brown trout, etc.).

If you try super duper’s again let them sink to the bottom, they sink really slow. Sometimes I tie a weight in front if I’m fishing deeper water...

I once used super duper and caught trout non-stop. A guy nearby approached me and asked what lure I used. I showed it to him. He paused for a second and asked me whether I made the lure myself. I said I bought it at Academy store. I did not want to tell him each of it cost $4 smile

#502 in gold. #501 in chrome. Super Duper. I use 2 lb test and tie directly to the lure. This is my go to in Texas and Colorado.

Bass Pro shop in SA has lots or lures available, mostly Rooster tails which I can't stand, but they have some of the better brands too.
