The flood gates are wide open 24/7 on Oklahoma side. Texas side is generating 24/7. My friend went out last night and caught some good monsters cork and jig. Lets go practice social distancing and fill our freezers up!

Started on texas side at 5pm and finished at 8pm. Caught 4 and released my personal smallest at the dam which was 9 inch striper lol the other four I kept was in the 3-5# range. Not bad for fishing I did lose a few on the way up. Crowd was manageable. Cork and jig was the ticket again with any color body. I will try again tonight and will report back tomorrow. Tight lines

Fishing has been ok. slow and steady. I think the warm weather today should be good for the bite.

Same experience last week.. I am wondering if the water is still muddy. I typically have better luck when the water is bit clearer your thoughts?

The entrance from the road? or entrance to the dam?

Can we still fish from the rocks?

Top water question for you all: with flukes most of the time the color doesn’t really matter but do any color of poppers work best? Size/weight?

I had to work for them. Used bombers at the end on the Oklahoma side then went back to Texas with a 2oz buck tail with white fluke. Casted our into the semi calm water and let it drift as I bounced it off the bottom and then this 6 pounder viscously nailed it.

Report the last few days are that limits are being caught on both sides TX and OK side. Most are throwing anything and everything and catching great box fish and some decent sized striper. The fish have no preference on color. Day and night the bite is good. I hope everyone is doing well. Tight lines

Flows are dropping quickly, and the lake is almost back to normal pool.

flow rate at 5070 cfs this morning, not a single bite between 8 to 9:30am before temp started to drop. ~15 fishermen, no one caught anything.

I was out there Saturday morning, it was generating so their was some current flow but didn't see any fish being caught. I suggest getting there early if you decide to go because it was PACKED.

Got a question for the board. I go up to Denison Dam fairly often and wade fish the Oklahoma side, but I am always fly fishing so I leave as soon as they start releasing water so I don't drown. I always see people on the Texas side throwing surf rods down past the power lines, but I have no idea what they are fishing with. It appears they are throwing something that resembles a saltwater popping cork, but they just cast it and reel it back in at a pretty good rate of speed so they are not treating it as a popping cork. All I know is the rig makes a giant splash when it hits the water and I don't see them catching anything most of the time. How does this rig work and what are they dropping behind the thing that is not a popping cork? Thanks.

They are throwing weighted bobbers. The bobber allows them to throw whatever bait they are using further out and trying to get it across the current. Some have live bait attached, cut bait, swim baits, etc.

^^
What he said.

It's these, or an all white version of it.

To get the full 100 yards, you generally need 3oz.

Below is most commonly a bucktail tipped with a fluke, or bait.

There's also a DIY version that actually is a popping cork, but with an egg sinker glued/taped to the bottom of the foam.

Thanks for the replies. That rig makes sense. Now that I think about it I have seen some of those corks broken off in the rocks when I am wading. Also see a lot of soft plastic flukes, which makes sense since we’re all imitating shad.
