Pond fishing is hard to beat. Good job. 
Side Note: This has been a very good year for catching BIG bass from the bank. Here are a couple I have caught fishing the banks.

The LMB bite is slower in the winter, but when you do hook into one it’s often a good fish!
4.5 lbs caught in a golf course retention pond. Only bite of the afternoon, could barely feel the tap.
Air temp 42*, water temp (?), late afternoon, this fish was ice cold.

Went back to the retention pond I was at earlier in the week. Caught 3 big bass (5.65lbs, 4.7 & 4.2) all within the last hour of daylight.
Air temp 49*, wind S10-15mph, all caught on a harvest colored worm, EWG 4/0, all at the end of the wind-blown side of the pond.
The bite was very, very light, almost unnoticeable. It’s getting colder, but the big girls are still eating!
