Plenty crappies, plenty white basses, plenty hybrids there to be caught.
Was curious if anybody fishes farther south from the dam? I was going to try fishing from the 428 bridge and travel north up the river. I know fish can obviously be anywhere, but anybody ever fished that far south and had good luck?

Caught a bunch of crappie at 428 last year. A few sandies but not large numbers.

Need to hike North from 428 and find the deeper holes just below rip rap or any eddies. Also, hike about 1/2 mile north, there is a bend to the outside that has a dredged out hole. I have caught 10+ bass up to 3 lbs out of that 1 hole. I have always wanted to go back, but haven't made it yet.

Is it required to have a Texas fishing license to fish from the bank here or does the state park rule apply by paying the entrance fee?
