Getting some tying in

Been getting some tying in during this heat wave. Used to heat here in Texas but 106 plus an additional few degrees of heat index factored in has me hunkered down in the AC. I have done up some redfish flies based on the Candy Corn Crawler by Backwater Flies in colors they do not offer. Based my color choices on what I have seen and read many conventional tackle guys use along the coast and what has been effective for me around here for bass. Planning on doing some in more subdued shrimp/baitfish colors.

Of course I have been doing a mess of clousers too. Can never have too many even though the white bass runs are close to 7 months away. I often wonder how they would work with a slab and jig rig during the summer.

I also have a question. Does anyone have a good pattern for the glass minnow? Been going over a couple ideas in my head but haven't reached in conclusions that seem good yet.

You can definitely swap in a clouser for a slab/jig combo. Works just fine.

For glass minnows the "traditional" fly is a surf candy or even a gummy minnow, but a super sparse white/white or white/grey clouser seems like it could also work.

I have thought about the surf candy but need to find a clear fiber and haven't seen one that fits the bill. I have never messed with the "Gummy Minnow" pattern but may branch out in that direction as it seems the best pattern to get an almost carbon copy. The clouser I could probably do easy and am thinking just how I will do it. The biggest components to an inland glass minnow seem to be the highly distinctive silver stripe along the flank (hence the more correct common name of Inland Silversides) and the bright white belly (actually their swim bladder). Just wanted to explore this fully as white bass seem to go out of their way to eat one.

Have you considered a variation of an epoxy minnow with clear mono to shape body similar to swamp candy fly

just reread the post: wrap hook with dark thread or tinsel, cover with sparse ep or congo hair - basic glass minnow with lateral line if I understand objective

Yes I have been thinking of an epoxy style minnow and may go with that style in the end.
