Easy Pattern

Easy Pattern - 10/28/19 02:12 PM

Haven't been fishing much lately or tying anything super interesting. I did these up yesterday. A guy on another board swears by them for fishing docklights for specks down on the coast. I figure they would be pretty good on crappie too. Tied them in a few colors with materials I had on hand. A bit of 'bou, a little midge sized flat diamond braid, some chenille and bead chain on a #6 34007.

That shrimp got in there on accident. Trying to work up a pattern to represent them little creek crawfish. Need to get some tan crystal flash. Probably also need to bump the craw tail weight down one size too so I can get the body tapered a bit and add some antennae.

Nice looking flies. I can see them working really well under dock lights for trout. Almost every fish that swims will eat a Cypert's Minnow, and with this fly having a similar profile and look, I imagine it will work well for far more than trout.
