Awesome. Salmon flies are really cool. I’ve eaten salmon but never fished for those.

I haven’t tied anything. Might tie some divers tomorrow ot something for the salt.

I have a weeklong fishing trip planned starting next weekend, starting off in southern Louisiana for three days fishing and then off to Rockport for four days. Been tying up a mix of saltwater flies: Disco Shrimp and Redfish Crack for redfish and trout, as well as some larger flies for jacks that I tied on 5/0 musky hooks. The jack flies were the first time I have used the new dragon tails and from my very limited testing in a local pond they swim great. The collars are Fly Tyers Dungeon Northern Kraken dubbing. I also tied up a giant-sized popper for jacks using a howitzer head and some long coq de leon hackle, but I don't have a picture of that one. The Redfish Crack flies have a collar using Fly Tyers Dungeon Big Bopper dubbing, which is fairly buoyant, but some wraps of lead free wire around the hook shank get them to sink nicely.

I have also been busy tying up trout flies for my dad's trip to New Mexico at the end of June. He will be fishing for about 10 days in Northern New Mexico around Philmont Scout Ranch and Red River. Tied him up some size 14 Doculator foam dry flies and some size 18 midges. I don't tie too many dry flies so my hackle is not always wrapped too neatly, but the fish never care.

Nice mix of patterns.

With that face design, those disco shrimps should move a lot of water. smile

That is the hope.

McKinney, those do look quite good, especially on the small flies. I always struggle more with the small and big stuff than with standard sizes.

I'm headed up to the Guadalupe in a couple of weeks. Stocking up on the hill country classics - Llano Bugs, Carp-it-bombs, and brunch money. Also have a few hellgrammite patterns tied up that I'm anxious to try. Anyone have any other suggestions to try?

MassAction,
You seem to pretty much have it covered, but maybe add in some Llanolopes in case the fish want something popping on top. I have had good luck on them in sizes 4-8. If you are not familiar with them, here is a video showing how they are tied. https://vimeo.com/75593711

Funny you should mention that, I spent last weekend looking for 6mm foam so I could tie some up. My search came up empty though, but I do have a healthy supply of Boogle Bugs which have served me well in the past. There is still time so I will be tying some up for sure. I also got these from Pat Cohen. Not sure if I will keep the weed guard or not, but can't wait to get these on the water.
