Been over 40 years since I've done any jigs. What is a decent vise at what cost. Live 50 miles West of Ft Worth and like to know if someone would be willing to show me the basics.

IMHO, the best vise for the money is a rotary peak at $149. Peak does make a non rotary vise for about $90. Danvise is another good one about $90. Lots of other vises that are less but these two are the best buy in my opinion.

Don't forget that Skip sells Peak vises.

Barlow's there in north Dallas has a good many to look at and they have everything on line. A good place to get your stuff is crazy angler he is also on line. There is a guide from west Texas that has a film on YouTube crappie jig tying 101 or something like that. He is good at what he does I have been told. The one above this is the one.
