Okay Pepop You Ask For Hackle Pictures - 02/19/15 06:57 PM

I probably will not do this again because of how much time this took. I do have a lot more colors and many of them not Florescent so it would just be a regular picture, but still too many to do.

I should probably also mention the Black light I use is actually for a boat so I have to use a converter to use it in the house, LOL! However one good thing is it has 2 Black lights, one is white and one is Normal Dark Black light and i use both on for this.

2 Shades of FL Yellow.....

2 Shades of FL Chart.....

Hot Pink & FL Green....

FL Orange & FL Fire Orange.....(I couldn't get a good picture of the FL Orange because it's so bright when the Black light hits it).

FL Blue & FL Red.....

I started checking materials a good while ago to see if when they say FL it's really FL and sometimes I get surprised and it's not. Really jacks me up when that happens and I have even got more vigilant over time about this. So I tell you all check you materials and not just feathers! One of the highest priced chenille's out there has some of their FL colors that do not FL under a Black light. I called them and ask why, sent them pictures and they called who ever does their dye work and the one I was asking about was done my mixing a FL color with a non FL color and all I can say if it doesn't show under a Black light, then it's not FL to me!

Let me shut up now and sorry for the kind of rant, but I get mad about this stuff!

In this day and time a person should always get his stuff from the man he knows to be honest. Don't look for low prices as for as sales from people you don't know.

Outstanding display Skip! That's exactly what I was hoping to see though I'm sorry it was so much trouble! I guess that 1st photo showing the 2 shades of yellow is what I really wanted to see. That yellow on the right is the one I've been looking for. Fantastic! Thank you Skip for taking the time!

A question I have is does the real fl catch more fish? Is there a difference in what the crappie want?

I believe it has to do with light penetration in the water. Most visible light is dissipated in as few as 3 to 5 feet, in water. There are several factors that affect light penetration, such as minerals, silt and the like. UV light is able to penetrate the water deeper, thus making fluorescent colors more visible.

However, that being said, I have been fishing a solid black jig lately and doing okay with it.
Today, I fished a few different combos, all fluorescent, and caught with Fl Blue/Fl Blue and Sparkly Purple/Fl Hot Pink. They wouldn't touch FL Orange/Chart.

Your welcome Vern, the one on the right is what WAPSI has so most everyone should have that! Robert should have it as well Barlow's and anyone that has more than Hareline's.

AggieKenny your absolutely right on, the UV light makes a huge difference in how far it penetrates the water. Black has always been a good color in low light Nd even night fishing. When I was younger, much younger we fished a ton at night for bass and most of the time it was a big Black soft plastic except when fish a spinner bait and it was Black most of the time. It's the profile and them seeing it above them which it lighter than below at any time. So Blak just shows up well. If I am not using Chart at night for crappie I am using Blue and Black combo.

Thanks guys's, glad you enjoy this!

I'm wondering if they'd have the same reaction to "Johnny Cash!!"

Don't tell me someone's already copied my Johnny Cash idea!?!?

LOL!! WTG Kenny! I'm planning to try solid black tomorrow!

Vern back when I was guiding on this lake for bass when a cold front would come through in spring we went to a all Black Marabou Jig with a small soft plastic Black worm tail on that jig. It was a light lig so it wouldn't fall through the Hydrilla. It was the one bait they would hit then pretty regular. Saved the guides tail many time back then! Also try that jig with a nice Blue Body!

Oh and that was in the 1970's, LOL. So all Black jigs are not new!

Almost forgot a few years ago I was trying to see if I could get a bass to hit off my bank so I tied up one of my old marabou jigs all Black and added a worm tail and guess what I caught? A big ol crappie, LOL!
