My new pb and pending cnr - 10/14/19 03:20 AM
Went out Saturday and fished the Nueces for a few hours. The weather was great, it was actually cool! We caught crappie, which were in brush piles in 26 fow. Found perch on over hanging limbs 8 to 13 fow.
I think rios have pretty eyes!
Leo caught this nice rio she was a little on the thick side.
We also caught a few small ditch pickles, but then I came across momma in a brush pile while fishing for crappie. Caught her on a new jig i had tied. Boy did she put up a fight she went under the branches in the brush pile, but i got her. out and into the boat You could just imagine the fight on my ultra light crappie rod. She is my new pb at 21 in. She is also a pending lmb cnr record for the Nueces River.
After all the excitement we packed up and headed to Espantosa. The moon looked so pretty i had to take a pic.
We were using 1/16oz but the crappie wanted something smaller, so we switched to 1/32oz. They were at 6 fow. We caught lots of dinks but still fun to catch. We fished till 2:30 am.
In the morning we headed further south to another part of the Nueces. Only caught one crappie and one bass. Very slow. So we decided to head back north to where we had the best luck the day before. Caught a few and then headed back home.
We had an awesome weekend! Everybody was released to swim another day.
