My New Business

My New Business - 07/13/21 12:22 AM

Hello Everyone,

I lost my job/career of 13 years last year due to a ‘covid layoff’. My life dream has always been to own my own business so I decided to cash in everything I have plus sign my life away to a massive loan to build a boat and RV Storage business from the ground up. I will be open for business very soon and want to spread the word. Though I do not personally know most of you on here, I do know the fishing community is a strong one that supports its fellow anglers. If you or anyone you know needs boat, RV, vehicle, trailer, etc storage please reach out or send them my way. I am located just south of I-20 in Talty / S. Forney area. I will have 42’, 36’, 30’ and 28’ units all 13’ wide and FULLY enclosed with electric. Extra wide driveways, gated, security, etc. Please reach out or visit my website www.greatstatestorage.com 972-977-0377. I appreciate you taking the time to read my post. God bless and tight lines!

I think that is a wise investment. There is a RV park near there and it is totally full. Wish you the best.

Congrats man! If you need to stop by the store to hear “hang in it’s gonna work out” come on by.

I pushed every chip I had and could borrow in 2014-2015 to start a second career owning my own business.

Good luck. We started a self storage business in our town nearly 20 years ago now and we stay full. Very good business to get into after paying back what it cost to build.

Shout out to BigVes and Great State Storage. I'm from Houston and fishing the TTO team deal on Texoma at the end of the month. I needed a short term storage option in the Dallas area so I reached out to see if BigVes could help after seeing this original post. He replied immediately and went out of his way to accommodate. Really helped me out. The property is secure, well laid out with huge units giving plenty of room for my 721 Phoenix. And customer service was outstanding. If you are in his area give this property a look.

In the right location, it's probably the best business you can have. Literally people paying you just to park things haha. Little to no upkeep other than mowing

Not a novel concept anymore. RV/boat storage places popping up EVERYWHERE in every town. That said they appear to fill up fast. “If you build it they will come”?…..but “location, location, location”! Good luck w/your endeavor!

If you have not joined the Texas Self Storage Association; I would. I joined and attended a couple of confrences. The Texas Assocaition is the envy of the other states who have storage assocations. It is a well run organization with lots of great information. As you know the REITs with their billions got involved in a big way about 15+ years ago and have been buying and building existing or new places like crazy. But they are primarily in the 10 x 10 or 10 x 20 space.

There is a great facility called Premier Self Storage for high end RV's and Boats on I-30 just outside of Rockwall. He has a unique business model. Might be a good contact and networking opportunity.

Congratulations on your new endeavor. I wish you much success!
