Line for Big Blues - 09/05/17 01:32 PM
I am fully aware that this question has been asked a million times and that I could go back through archives to find the answer. However, I don't want to. I have 6 6500 ABU's that I need to respool. Kinda afraid of Big Game because I have had quite a few lures break off mid cast on my ditch pickle rods. I am wanting to stick with mono. Thamks and fire away

I have used big game for alot of years and love it. I use the 25# solar green for my main line and a 50# leader all big game.

I've had good luck with the Bass Pro Tight Line saltwater mono in the hi viz. They sell it in 1077 yard spools. I run 6 Abu 6600's spoiled with 25 lb main line. I use the big game mono for leaders. 30 lb leader in the summer and 60 lb leader in the winter.
The Berkley Pro Spec premium line is what we use...does very well in the fresh and salt.

X2. I'm using the 25lb pro spec chrome now and it seems to get the job done.

Offshore angler 30lb. cheaper, and stronger in my opinion.

Big Game 25lb (usually moss green) mainline with a 50lb mono clear leader.
Nothing wrong with the OA line...it's good like and very affordable for the quality.

Yeah, for the money it's pretty good stuff. $10 for 1000 yards and it flat out doesn't break. Even when you need it to lol. I haven't tried the Pro Spec yet. May have to check it out.
