East wind is usually associated with high berometric pressure. If the pressure isn't fluctuating then the fish tend to bite a lot better. If the pressure is hovering around 30 then the fish don't care what direction the wind blows.

This is hurricane related wind. And pressure related too. That basically means Up is down & down is up. When you live on a ball or circle, there is no such thing, unless a bunch get together & define the parameters. The weird change drives fish nuts. Naturally, panic can make them hungry. Currently Harvey is acting like a ladle & scooping up vast amounts of water from the Gulf & dumping it inland. It is refueling itself. The eastern wind is being fabricated by Harvey. Problem is, Harvey will continue to flood until it gets far enough away to cut off its fuel supply. Sadly, the flooding in Houston will become worse.

I believe this is the down is up and up is down Lynn is speaking of. Normally east wind means no rain, no clouds, and high pressure. When the storms are out of the East then whoa sonny!

When I was a kid my father taught me,
When wind blows east fishing is least.
When wind blows west fishing is best.
But what the heck do I know, I grew up salt water fishing.

I'm happy things are getting back to a south wind. I've always had my best luck then. I would have to say than my worse luck catfishing has been when there was no wind.
