Cabelas King Kat - 02/05/17 03:08 PM
It's less than a month out.
Who is going to show? I will be fishing it for the first time and looking forward to meeting some more like minded individuals that I haven't met yet. My brother and I will be staying at Shoestring Farms for a couple days prior to the tournament. I will include a link for the people that haven't registered yet.

The more the merrier. I plan on having a nice weekend at the lake and maybe catch a few fish while I'm there. I did a little looking around today and managed a nice stringer. I just need to finish up my livewell before the tournament.

Re: Cabelas King Kat - 02/24/17 09:21 PM
Unless Cabela's has a rule change for the tournament, teams should be able to weigh a 5 fish stringer of all big fish... In the past, if you had an unhealthy fish or a big fish you did not want to stress, you could weigh him at any time through the day then release him, just bring your pink slip to the scales and they will document the fish and give you the slip back for final weigh in. Our team used the rule a few years ago to weigh a 55lb fish that we caught real early and we were not confident in our livewell system to keep him healthy all day. We just beached the boat at the City Park and I carried him up to the scales. You are allowed to catch as many big fish as you want per day, just cant posses more than 2 per person. I will be bringing that question to the meeting Friday evening before the tourney.

Open mouth, insert foot.
Got in touch with Jeremy Coe, King Kat tournament director. It will be 4 big fish per team. Should have asked him before the post!

Yeah pretty sad actually
City gives em 6k and entry fees (typically 40 teamsX200 per) would be about $14,000??? And what do they usually pay out? 6-7k total? It's a joke....
Tournament on PK last weekend had 66 boats and it was the first time they put something together and they also paid out 5k to first place alone! Cant believe Tawakoni cant get anything better than the Cabelas tournament! Guess its because there isnt much $ around the lake....

Jim… That is a lone stump right there… Last I saw it had a piece of rebar or metal on the top of it marking it when the water was low.

Re: Cabelas King Kat - 03/03/17 11:27 AM
The cases on the lower unit looked like you laid a grinder on them .had 3 distinctive 6 to 7 in wide tracks down the length of the hull . When the water was down don't know how I missed dropping a skull & crossbones on it .

Re: Cabelas King Kat - 03/06/17 03:18 AM
Lets define the team of Allen and Allen as 75% Oklahoma team, 25% Texas. We were both born and raised in NE Oklahoma, i'm still here but he has been living/working in Texas for 15+ years. Boat lives in Texas.
Tournament was a lot of fun, this made our 5th year fishing the tournament. Was good to finally win one... we had a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place under our belts already... looks like we may be a good bet for 4th place next year?
I do a lot of reading on the TFF, its cool to have a place for discussion with a bunch of like minded folks. Thank you for the forum, the tournament and all the other things Texas does right for the sport of fishing!
