Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017

Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 01/01/17 03:56 AM

And here we are, the start of the New Year brings a new thread.

Happy New Year!!!

As I stated, there will be a printed version coming for 2017. I will let you know as soon as possible when we get to that point. And then you can purchase one to map out the whole year for maximizing your trip catches.

As for those just now tuning in, you can back up to a little of the background behind the Calendar and tips along the way shared in the yearly threads. I was taught by two YellowCat teachers, and learned from what they had been taught, as well as learned from their experience. However, I stumbled upon the Calendar by accident (or was it?). I tell folks I didn't create it, I just discovered it. The pattern was already there, but due to circumstances it unfolded & then I had to wonder. Well, there is no wonder any more. Here are your links to the previous years, as well as this current year's thread:

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 02/03/17 08:58 AM

Still working on the Printed Edition. We finally slowed down at work to catch our breath. It has been unbelievable since last May (2016), as I have been working anywhere from 55 to 69 hours a week since then until this past week of only 49 hours.

OK, as many know, February has been declared as "BlueCat" month, so it is the month to really rack up those big BlueCat catches. Of course, normally it is cooler weather & more stable, as to staying cooler. So Time will tell if it stays true or is disrupted with this warmer weather roller coaster.

As to BlueCat weekends (Fri-Sat) by way of BC days, there are none in February. But there should be Bleedover into the mornings of Saturdays February 5th/11th/25th. This means Fridays the day before were BC days. Bleedover can run into about Noon, possibly more due to a Fuller (near Full Moon) or Full Moon.

Other than that, BC target areas (2 or more straight days) in February are 2nd/3rd; 9th/10th; 21st/22nd. And Bleedover can be from Noon the day before to Noon the day after a designated Calendar day. As for YC days, see the Calendar or my PYC days noted below. Bleedover is in effect for YellowCats, as well as Gator Gars.

Some of you just tuning in, can look back to Dave's "Meat Haul" thread to see what using the Catfish Calendar can do utilizing & understanding Bleedover & use it to maximize your catches, regardless of your method- R-n-R/pole or set lines. And when you are trying to "hook" the younger ones (as to people) into Catfishing, more fish caught will definitely help in that area.

Here's your February 2017 Calendar ...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
YC = YellowCat // BC = BlueCat // BFT = Buffet (assorted) // ZIP = Zip (not very good)
Tip- Always bait out lines the night before a YC or BC day.
Tip- Gator Gars (GG) run ahead of YellowCats, so bait out late (between 11 PM to 1 AM).
Tip- BlueCats also bite good on YC days, but you can rack 'em up on BC days.
Tip- Some variations or alterations are due to weather or other external influences.
Tip- For Rod-n-Reelers, use Solunar Tables (etc.) also for best times with my calendar.
Tip- Near Full Moon, Gator Gars & YellowCats seem to feed a few hours later.
Tip- Your biggest YellowCats may hit best towards beginning & end of YC days.
Tip- My PYC Days keys in on the YellowCat's Feed/Roam Days Underlying Pattern.
Tip- Bleedover works both ways- Before & After a calendar day. Take advantage.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So as the song might go ...
Start spreading the news,
singing the "Blues".

(As to catching BlueCats this month.)
Have a Good One!!!

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 04/01/17 06:59 PM

Greetings Everyone!
Hope Everybody is doing Great!

Several items up front. I'll try to be as brief as possible. As some of you have noticed, there is a thread promoting that the Calendar thread of each current year to become what is called a "sticky". This means that it would remain up top, in the same manner as Catfish Tournaments (their yearly thread), or special Bulletins by TFF. Obviously, at current views of 909, several have noticed. I might add a few tips as to perhaps a way to further the endeavor. That will be at the bottom of this post (following the April calendar info).

Also, if you want to learn more YellowCat secrets, look for the post following the April month posting. And then look again after the May month as well.

You know, from time to time, I hear back from many of you as to your success & successes, from a little to a heaping amount. I am glad to have helped. It means my research has been proven.

Here's one to whet your whistle if you have not tried catfishing the calendar ...
One wrote for their big family gathering for July 4th trip in 2015--- "how are yall doing? We had a good fishing trip the 4th of July we fried 45lbs of filets and brought home 52lbs of filets."

Looking back for that July 4th,2015 segment, not sure as to when they started or stopped, or methods & bait, the Calendar showed this:
Wed(1st)- BFT/ Thurs(2nd)- BFT/ Fri(3rd)- YC/ Sat(4th)- YC/ Sun(5th)- YC/ Mon(6th)- YC
And the PYC days were:
July 5/6 (Sun/Mon)
Moon status was:
July 1st- Full Moon & 8th- Last Qtr
KEY Tips:
YC days are very good for Blues also. And closer to Full Moon means later in the night & even better in the morning for Blues. BFT means something akin to a Buffet (full spread). For me, they draw in more CCs & a variety of the catch. I prefer BC & YC days myself.
EXTRA Tip:
Always key in on your bait as to what the Calendar shows & your preference of catch.

And, if nothing hinders me any further, my best estimate for the printed calendars is around April 15th & 16th. As to whether it is during, just ahead, or a day or two after, that is the target. Sadly, I was told we were slowing down mid to late January at work. We did, sorta, kinda, except me. I mean I have been getting lesser hours in, but having to work faster & harder. This weekend, I finally get a breather to tackle getting the calendar, getting it closer to production. Even with 8 months left to go, you can still clean up & max your year to the fullest. Be it your cup of tea- CPR, fish fry-s, records, group trips, freezer runs, or just really great fish'n, the 12 month calendar allows you to map it all out. Plan for simply the Best!!!

My suggestions as to making (or presenting TFF with the request) the yearly calendar thread "sticky" is to ...
1) Continue with the current thread, but pick up the pace as to voicing your vote, approval, or opinion.
2) Or create a thread noting something akin to "Time to Vote for ... ", to which everyone would recognize that they actually need to vocalize their vote.

I do not know if it would be the Moderators, the Forum policies, or exactly to whom it might be addressed. But I'm betting that there would need to be at least about 100 to voice a "yea" (yes) vote.

The RTF format is the simplest version I derive from, to currently post the text into the Forum posts. But in the actual RTF file, the days are closely aligned, resembling a seven day spacing like a normal calendar. In pasting it into a Forum post, everything is drawn to the left side (no indention allowed) & no longer in line. A pic of the RTF month would stay in alignment, plus look much better than a rough text (as per current).

Wishin' You the Best & Safest!!!

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 04/01/17 07:01 PM

YellowCat- MudCat terminology:

I posted this over in the "MudCat Vs. YellowCat" thread started by txfour.

Some of you may recall, actually remember, or distantly in some manner or fashion, have heard a YellowCat sometimes being referred to as a MudCat. I'm sure some pondering this right now, are starting to jog their memories a tad bit & it seems perhaps some many moons ago, there is that faint nudge that you have heard that spoken of. Perhaps you know why. Perhaps you never found out why. Well, maybe its time for another slice of the YellowCat profile.

Nowadays, when you hear the term MudCat (my File name- MC], the first thing you think of is what we always referred to as a "polly", otherwise known as freshwater BullHeads. I was raised on them in my childhood & early teen years. I thought that was it, as for Catfish. I never even knew there were 3 main varieties of the "polly"- Yellow, Brown, and Black. It was later on that I found out that some called them MudCats. It was in my mid teen years I learned there were other types of Catfish out there in existence & some got huge (so they claimed).

Fast Forward a few years & I found out more on ChannelCats [CC], BlueCats [BC], and the oddity known as YellowCats[YC]. Lso of mention or WhiteCats [WC], but I have not caught any of these, or that I am aware of, here in central Texas. And somewhere in that midst of time, I would rarely hear someone refer to these YellowCats as MudCats. And I wondered. Yes, I wondered why. I could understand, or at least get an idea as to why the Bullheads were called MudCats. But YellowCats??? Why would somebody call or refer to them as MudCats.

It seems the term was applied, as to something they did, as to why they drew that term or description from some Catfish fishermen/fisherwomen.

Recently on the thread- "Pre or Post Front?" started by ETX_Chad [was on p.3 about 2/3rds down a few days ago] I spoke of the comparison between Blues & Yellows as to their strength & what they do when they pull jugs under the surface of the water. A big BlueCat will tire out trying to muscle the float down under & stay that course. So the Blue will try, but cannot hold it down for a long duration, unless of course it is a reaklly big one & your jug is smaller. I am speaking of at least a one gallon jug (as to a reference point). But a YellowCat turns on the Tractor gear mode & dives hard without stopping. Why? Because it is seeking a leverage point, or some sort of a safety hold. When it gets hooked, it senses trouble & dives to go under a log, or a crevice if near a bank. If it can't, then only one option remains. That is, to dive straight for the bottom, with everything they have in their "granny" or low gear. When it hits bottom, it will try to bury itself in the mud. If it does, it creates a sort of suction cup & by doing so, it is burrowed in the mud. As to how long it will stay, that depends on many factors. These YellowCat dive tactics are one reason your jug may disappear before some time whjen it may appear again. But the YellowCat may have managedto pry or work loose in this tactical reaction. Believe me, I have encountered missing jugs, only to find them later with a good size YellowCat still on them. Their tactic failed to free them. And sometimes the jug (attached to them) traveled some distance too, yet would have been found if it was up above the surface.

There is another time a YellowCat will do this same thing, as top burrowing in the mud. I do not know if any of you have ever cleaned a stock tank or sleugh out, in order to restock certain fish, by putting out a certain powder (Rotenone) that takes the oxygen out of the water. The fish start coming up to the surface to get oxygen to breathe. You can remove fish. If not, most will finally die for lack of oxygen in the water. However, the YellowCat is one exception. Somehow it senses the oxygen problem. It will come to the surface once or twice. If not caught very fast, then it dives down into the mud, and it somehow survives. Back in the early 70's, my Dad wanted to clean out our sleugh (nicknamed the "MudHole") & restock it with ChannelCat. I had my 13th Birthday party & a bunch of friend's came out to our land in the country. Most of my friends still remember that party. It was a blast. Two huge YellowCats surfaced their heads, but got away before we could catch them. Never spotted them again. They somehow survived.

Not only have I heard the burrowing in the mud bit from a few others here & there, I also heard it from my two YellowCat teachers & my Dad. While I am not completely sure, it can be theorized that they might have put themselves to sleep in order to alter their oxygen intake. There is also a possibility that by burrowing in their unique fashion, that they release some sort of pocket of oxygen stored in the bottom (or maybe in the mud itself), in order to give them time to survive the ordeal.

I will share how to put a YellowCat to sleep (taught to me by one of my YellowCat teachers) when I post the month of May in "Lynn's Catfish Calendar" thread in May 2017. You will actually be able to observe the difference in them, before & after. That portion will follow in a separate post. Perhaps then, you will get an idea of why the YellowCat is indeed a different breed compared to BlueCats & ChannelCats & MudCats (Bullheads).

Nevertheless, that is why YellowCats have been tagged as a MudCat, from time to time. And that is no April Fools.

Brief Update ...

Currently (today & tomorrow- Sat & Sun), I am finishing up about 3 monthly stories, and scanning a few pics to blend them together so I can squeeze more pics in for their given months. It looks as if I will be at OfficeMax Monday or Tuesday with the layout & have the hard copy (standard calendar) approved, in order to print more by mid-week. Also, a few alterations, then the Flat Wall Calendar. And then a few more adjustments, the mini-calendars right on their heels.

The scanner has been unearthed & awaits its Catfishing Calendar Workout. I also have to put in new ink cartridges. Back to the Calendar routine.

Just in case you were wondering ...

I hope to one day have the knowledge and ability to share it with others.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 04/25/17 08:04 AM

Here is the latest update for those who are inquiring.

I pulled an all-nighter Sunday night. Worked from 8 PM Sunday until 5:30 AM Monday to finish & put things together after typing up last minute items, printing, pasting photos, scanning, then copying files to a lash drive & burning them on a CD to take to OfficeMax.

I sat down with Art for about 2 hours as we got it sorted out & tested for correct run (printing), then adjusting clarity & such. I think I have 3 prelim copies (free). 1 actually is fairly good. And two or 3 extra Cover Sheets as he was tweaking & testing it. He also rescanned the photo collage cover & it came out superb.

13 first run copies were being made as I left about 3:15 PM & will pick up Tuesday after work. I hope to be awake to figure costs in the next day or so. Plus I need to investigate PayPal to make it easier on some of you out there.

Here is the line-up features for the 2017 Hard Copy printed "Four Corner Late Edition" (collectible & hand numbered):
***2017 Cover - Between the 4 corners (pics of the previous 4 hard copy covers- 2009/2010/2011/2013), are 3 new photos in the center- Robyn's YellowCat, Wildman's YC (from San Antonio River), and Al Jones/Keith Ginsel's record 61.13# BlueCat from Lake Limestone (R-n-R & All Tackle, still current). It was all I could fit, due to tight space. [NOTE: 2018 Edition I think will limit to 4 full size photos for the Cover.]
***Greetings (2 page intro on backside of Cover)- includes Greetings, updates, KEY & 2 photos from Running Branch [RB] (1 is of 3 really hefty Yellows- 2 are over 60#)
***January- Tips (Bleedover) & a few various Cats
***February- Tips: KEY & Percentages & a few various Cats
***March- Tips: Roam-Feed Circuit & Baits & a few various Cats
***April- Running Branch Marina & a few various Cats
***May- Justin's YC
***June- Robyn's Gator Gar
***July- one of Dave's Texas trips
***August- Robyn's YC
***September- Al & Keith's Lake Limestone record BC
***October- "Wildman's" 3 Cat records & certificates
***November- Yesenia & 3 Cats, plus Leo & one Gator Gar
***December- Dave's Oklahoma BC trip
***backside of December- some new Testimonies of the Catfish Calendar

Of note, are 7 (2 & 5) photos of thumb nail size pics ranging from 9 KB to 50 KB in size, were very challenging. I think we did excellent in getting the best we could from them.

Plus, along with the Hard Copy is a separate photo size (4x6) of the revised 2017 LCC KEY, so you don't have to flip back thru the Calendar to remind yourself of the Tips provided.

This year's 2017 Edition, now has the PYC days also incorporated into it (no more separate sheet).
Color pages- Cover & each of the 12 month story/pics ("stics") pages

In the next few days, I will figure out which photos (& KEY) for the Wall Shoot for the Wall Calendars. And then Art will set that up. That will be for the other biggie- the 18" x 24" Color LCC Flat Wall Calendar.

--->>>2013 Edition Trivia- In setting up this flat Wall calendar up for the 2013 Edition, the photos were of such mass (MBs worth) it literally shut the OM Printing Services computers (system at this location) down to where they had to reboot. This happened several times in further experimenting. This had never occurred before. Adam finally figured out out how to stuff them in & do a phenomenal job then & they have really beefed up their system since then (the past 4 years) to prevent that, due to that encounter. Just in case you don't realize what an undertaking the Catfish Calendar is from other angles than just my compilation.

The other smaller Wall Calendars (little extras) will be taken from that setup.

Following that within the next week, the other little extra, is setting up the mini calendars. I may stay with the 2017 main cover, or vary from it. KEY on inside cover, then just the basic 12 month numbered calendar with all the codes (including PYC days) with a few blank pages in back for notes. They are not in color, to keep costs down.

--->>> Another trivia moment for the 2017 edition: To give you an idea of what an all-nighter can do ... I was at Walgreens after work before going home, to put in the Calendar KEY to make Pics of. It got to the point it wanted me to type in the coupon code. I looked down & no keyboard was there. I actually opened up some compartment below & no, it was not there. I pulled the head face of the 'Puter & no, was not in there. I was getting frustrated, so I called out to one of the guys for help. About that time, I looked at the screen & said Oh, never mind, one of those "DUH" moments. Keyboard was pictured on screen. Obviously it was definitely time for some Vitamin Zzzzz.

Speaking of that, time for Round 2 of another dose.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 05/02/17 08:58 AM

Greetings Everyone!
Whew! What a Month! I have been very busy, not just with the compiling of the 2017 Lynn's Catfish Calendar printed editions!

This is the First of 3 posts for May 2017.

My apologies, it seems our land lines were out Sunday afternoon. This has happened over the years again & again, the techs wish they would be informed to correct the problem, but repair service (as to the ones you get on the phone) does not see it that way (as they put it off until Monday).

And Friday, my car broke down. So it seems I am getting a few curve balls thrown in my direction.

Before I make the announcement, I wanted to take the time to address what "ETX_Chad" spoke of. You see, I originally had 3 options for sharing the Catfish Calendar. They were as follows ... 1st option- monthly on the TFF here in the Catfishing section FREE, secondly- quarterly via an email list FREE, and third- by way of the printed calendar which shared it thru the end of December (for about the printing costs). However, due to email changes by my server, I had to cease the Quarterly. After I finally figured out what was going on, and how I could possibly fix the problem, I also came to the conclusion that I could not keep up with everything. So I had to drop the Quarterly realizing there just was not 27 hours in a day to be able to handle it in a capable manner.

I wanted to make sure though that those who could not afford to purchase a copy in print, still had access to it, at least monthly. As well as, those who remain skeptics but willing to try it out privately.

But at the same time, those who wished for, or could pay for a printed copy, I would share the Calendar, to or thru the end of that year (as to the 3rd option). Some may or may not know it, but the Calendar is printed here locally with no financial backing or paid advertisements. If I put in any such endorsement, it is due to my decision. Due to this, there is no great price break on the printed copy. Or a sponsor picking up the tab. Nor is there any profit in it. OfficeMax has done their very best working with me. While costs have risen since the 2013 edition, the new addition for 2017 is very affordable for whichever mode or method you choose. The Catfish Calendar helps you get more Bang for the Buck. In these times, we can use really be thankful for Tools like it, which maximize our catches & make life even more grand. It's great to go fishing, but it is even greater to catch more. It would be nice some day to make a profit, but for now, it can only be called a hobby. I have to be careful not to lose my shirt (burn a hole in my wallet), so I may round up the costs to the next dollar. That helps to re-coop some of the expenses I have put up front, but I am sure falls short of that hope.

On shipping, I have to calculate the USPS costs. plus the Bubble Mailer envelope to help protect your copy. Not to mention the other 1 or two large envelopes that they are put in before getting into the Mailer envelope. Normally, I have been limited to accepting checks or Money Orders. But I have finally set up PayPal as most have asked for that option. If you choose check or money order, there is more of a time delay. But for PayPal, it is faster, but a fee is imposed which is very nominal & I pass that on to you. The PayPal option seems to up & running now, as of just now.

On multiple items, I will be able to bring down the per copy shipping cost, but will need to figure it out. I was hoping to have all editions printed & prices available right now, as I type this. At this moment, I only have the standard wirebound flip type "Hard Copy" But due to it being 4 years ago since the last printed editions, the other "biggie" [18x24 COLOR Flat Wall Calendar] is still being assembled & tweaked. Once it is done, the two smaller Flats will utilize the same setup. The "Mini-Cals" are also being assembled, as well as touching base with Adam in Chicago, as to best options. The past two times, we utilized old stock that they needed to get rid of, while helping us to lower its cost. That worked out great for both parties.

Another thing--- I want to stop & tell everyone that you do not have to be utilizing the Catfish Calendar, nor believe in the Catfish Calendar, to have your picture or pictures in it with a little story. And you do not have to have caught some big Cat or Gator Gar. Or even have a really big mess (pile) of Cats. The important thing, is that you are out there trying.

If you want any "Hard Copies" of the 2017 Calendar, those are ready now. You can contact me by email <hlynnh@peoplepc.com> (that is a little "L", as to the 2nd letter), or by a TFF PM to <Catfish Lynn>. I'll send you a brief of the Hard Copy price (under $18) & shipping costs. As soon as the others become available, I'll let you know. Please don't forget, I am a night owl (on the 'puter usually late night). I do not access the computer, email, or TFF during the day on weekdays. And sometimes, I may not make it to computer, so bear with me, in my response.

The Hard Copies are mailed in Bubble Envelope Mailers, while the Flat Wall Calendars are mailed separately in Tubes to prevent creases. And all are hand numbered as collectibles. Don't forget, I added some more testimonies to the back of the month of December 2017 Hard Copies.

Previous Collectible Hard Copy Editions (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013) are still available, as needed. I will need to inquire as to their reprint price.

Well, there ya go!

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 05/02/17 09:03 AM

This is the Second of 3 posts for May 2017.

Sadly, nothing has happened yet as to the Calendar thread becoming a sticky. I guess I will inquire in a few days into the manner, on behalf of all of you who wish it to become so.

Meanwhile, it's time for the May RTF Calendar. I might note that Justin is featured for May 2017 in the printed "Hard Copy" with a really nice 30+ pound YellowCat. For the full lineup or roster of the "Hard Copy", see the recent post of mine (about 2 or 3 back from this one). The first 3 calendar months have some special tips on certain aspects which help to maximize & understand the Calendar.

Also, if you want to learn more YellowCat secrets, look for the post following this one. I'll touch on putting a YellowCat to sleep.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 05/02/17 09:19 AM

This is the Third of 3 posts for May 2017.

In the YC & MC thread I shared about this terminology & how it came about. I took that & shared a little bit more after the April Calendar was posted in the Calendar [LCC] thread. It was not due to being related to Bullheads which have been coined as MudCats.

Yellows have an instinct to dive if they feel threatened. Another is to burrow in the mud to be safe. However, there is another side to that coin as to how a YellowCat can be put to sleep, by itself or by you.

To give you an example, I will share what Olen told me about it. He was one of my 2 YellowCat teachers. In April 1979, we had separate Catfishing trips planned for one weekend on Lake Livingston. He & his party were at White Rock Creek area. Our catfishing party was at the dam until Saturday midday & moved to below the dam on the river from Saturday afernoon. Olen's group had some lines set in the Jungle in the area where the mouth of the Creek joins the Lake & riverbed. The Jungle is a fair stretch maybe averaging about 5 feet to 15 feet or so of depth, if I recall correctly. But due to all of the timbers in that area, it gets its name. It also is YellowCat hiding & feeding territory. They were running one trotline & one of the guys said it seemed as if he was pulling up a submerged log, as it was heavy. At that very moment, Olen told them to stop & to gently hand him the main line. He eased on forward trying to do it in a very smooth manner. As he got further, it was obvious what was on the line- a big Yellow over 30 pounds. He eased on to get the Yellow beside him & the boat. He told the guys to watch. They did. He slowly put his hand under the Yellow & rubbed his belly for awhile. Possibly a good 60 seconds to 2 minutes worth. They all were perplexed & ask him what on earth was he doing. He explained he was simply putting the Yellow to sleep. He then instructed one in the front & one in the back to gently grab the main line. As they did, he easily let go & swooped both hands under the big Yellow & lifted him up & eased him into the center of the boat. They were all simply amazed at how easy it had been to get the Yellow in the boat with no dipnet & no fight. Olen said it was about 15 minutes (possibly 5 minutes, as this was about 38 years ago) before the Yellow awoke out of his deep sleep & almost tore up the bottom of the boat tossing & turning, thinking it might escape. He explained to the others that this is how a Yellow puts itself into a relaxed deep sleep. By either burrowing in the mud, or simply by wriggling back & forth on a harder bottom.

On one 24 or so pound Op at Running Branch, I demonstrated this to others back in 2002 or 2003. I explained to watch two things before, during & after. I said watch their eyes. As you rub their belly, it seems their eyes have some sort of change as to their stare. And they start breathing very deep. And yes, they get very mellow. No thrashing or trying to break free. Next time you catch a big Yellow, try it & see.

So, perhaps this is one reason they survive if they burrow into the mud with depleted oxygen as I shared in the post following the April calendar. Due to their special sleeping & breathing routine. Maybe this is why the legends of really big monsters (big Yellows) by the dam include them in some sort of "just lying there" stacked up. Perhaps it is also one reason they can be so dormant one time, yet so feisty another time. And it makes you also think of other things too. Such as rubbing the stomach of another animal seems to relax most into some mysterious manner. Probably there are specific nerves which are located in this area that are being triggered.

That's something to think about until next time.

Yes, the Hard Copy (the standard printed edition) of the 2017 Lynn's Catfish Calendar is now availble. Other editions soon available.

*** Dave, I need your new address. Touch base with me when you see this.

As you currently read this, you need to back up to the April calendar & work your way forward to this brief. You may have missed several items, such as a share on Yellows as to why they are sometimes referred to as MudCats.

Then a first update on the printed calendars.

Next, an outline of what's inside the printed calendar for 2017.

Then the info on the 2017 calendar.

Followed by the May 2017 RTF Calendar.

And just before this brief- the share on how to put YellowCats to sleep.

And currently as they are saying in Star Wars themes-
May the 4th (Force), be with You, always!

will be fishing this evening. I noticed its blue cat days. I have a freezer full of mullet I cast netted on the beach a few weeks ago. I am thinking of throwing those on some jug lines at lake mathis. do you have any other suggestions?

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 05/13/17 06:00 PM

I have no idea as to mullet. Last time & only time I was on Lake Mathis (now Lake Corpus Christi) was back in 1979. I mainly used soap bait (for Blues & Channels) I got there at the KOA Campgrounds store in the area I think of Sweeney Switch (or near where you could drop at the river as it came into the lake. I was hoping to find the area fellow co-workers always set lines out, but that is somewhere on the west side of the lake. They said there were cliff walls nearby & that the area was shallow, but had holes where the big Yellows would hang out.

Also, this was before the Catfish Calendar was discovered soon after.

And from what Chad told me back in 2003, the guy that made the soap either quit or had died. I liked it bacause it floated. I would basically set lines almost on the bottom with 18" leaders & theCats would either see or smell the soap. My Dad & my Best Friend's Dad were lifelong fishing buddies & Old P&G soap catfishermen on the river. I caught a record ChannelCat off of "Redneck"'s soap in Limestone, but failed to do anything (get it certified & fill out the paperwork). I see somebody bumped that weight the past few years since.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 06/02/17 08:29 AM

Greetings!

Hope all of you out there fishing, survived the watersport crowds this past Holiday weekend. Only one more month until the next Holiday rendevous. July the 4th falls on a Tuesday for 2017. Here is a Qwik Preview into July- 1 ZIP (Sat) // 2 BFT (Sun) // 3 BFT (Mon) // 4 BFT (Tues) // 5 ZIP (Wed). Of those, July 3rd/4th (Mon/Tues) are a 2 day PYC (Lynn's Personal YellowCat Days) run. As to the Moon, May 30th was the 1st Quarter & July 9th will be a Full Moon.

While we each have our outlet of expression for Memorial Day & Independence Day, be sure & reflect on the inner reasons of those days, as they have to do with Freedom & those who have sacrificed their lives to make all of ours for the better.

Always remember that Freedom comes with a Price. And most of all, it comes with Respecting others, as well as their diversity. And that includes those on the waters who are not fishing. And it includes even those who Catfish, of whom there are a diverse perspective as the the methods & views on what to keep as well as what to eat.

For all of you Crappie fans, I think Ron is about to help me try to fine tune in on them even more to see if we can peg down a better pattern on Crappie, other than it seems they hit good on BC days, especially near the New Moon.

Speaking of that, I was asked recently concerning the Solunar Tables, as I mention them in the Calendar KEY. In the 2017 KEY (as well as the original KEY printed & shared in 2009 with the first printed Catfish Calendar), is this: "Tip- For Rod-n-Reelers, use Solunar Tables (etc.) also for best times with my calendar."

While I cannot fully vouch for the solunar tables, some live & swear by them. They incorporate or allude to two major influences- the Sun & the Moon. But I wanted to clarify that there are two aspects that I am aware of. It is that there are Solunar days & Solunar hours. I am speaking of referring to the Solunar Hours to use in addition to the Catfish Calendar. The reason I note for use with Rod-n-Reelers is very simple. Set lines can be out working 24/7 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). However, for those that Rod-n-Reel, you only have an allotted time on the water, especially if lightning or storms come in and you need to get off the water.

You know that old Native American Indian saying, of "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, feed him for life." It does not always work that way. It really makes my day when I see someone doing their part in promoting this, in one way or another. This month, I wanted to make Special Recognition of "MercuryJump" & his efforts of sacrificing a day a week to help feed others. Be sure to look at his facebook page: "Fishing for a change"
<https://m.facebook.com/Fishing4aChange/>
A recent trip was noted in <http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/12263864/>

Update on the LCC 2017 Hard Copy (printed wirebound) is that they are $17 (plus shipping). They take the calendar months thru the end of December 2017 for those who wish to map out their trips ahead of time. Get with me by way of a TFF PM on the side if you want any.

Sadly, I was hoping to have the Flat Wall & "mini-cals" (Mini-calendars) going by now. However, OfficeMax has been super busy (just like me) & Art was supposed to give Adam a ring up in Chicago to assist in the setup this last week & a half. Adam had done the previous 4 printed editions. I have not had a chance to get with Art to see if progress has been made, or got with Adam. I've been super busy as to my Metro, such as replacing fuel pump, fuel filter, a few new tires (Discount Tires had to get them in from Ohio for me, as 12 inch ones are not in stock much nowadays). Then I finally converted & put in Mom's new gas oven/stove. I bought it back in October from Lowes (that tells you how behind I am). Added a new window unit A/C to the Living Room this past weekend. Just to name a few things.

I was also hoping to touch base on the "sticky" situation as to the Yearly Calendar thread, but have not had the spare time to map out a proposal & present it yet.

Anyway, it's time for the June 2017 Lynn's Catfish Calendar. Summer is basically here already. And it looks to be a very humid one indeed. So do not get dehydrated. Last major time, was when me & my Uncle were working up on the roof during the summer a few years back. I was very weak for a few days. It was two days before I could take a leak again. I have no plans to ever get like that again.

Here ya go ...

Whew! I guess it could be hotter than it is. Let's Hope not, though.

Sorry for delay. I finished fixing my sister's Jeep late Wednesday night. Yay!!! So I took a breather Thursday night, but cratered at keyboard after starting assembling the July calendar post. Same for Friday, crashed even before getting to 'puter, after working late at the door shop.

Have fun for the Holiday & Be Safe & Stay Hydrated!!!

OK, Special Note (3 of them)--->>>

I needed to clarify something just in case anybody has somehow not realized it yet. I know I failed to make it known. As you know, on my Calendar KEY, I have noted that YC days are also great for Blues. Of course BC days are the ultimate for Blues. However, I need to clarify that the actual Catfish Calendar days marked YC are separate, yet run along with my Lynn's Personal YellowCat Days (now referred to as PYC). It means the Calendar base of 4 days (for my sigs- YC/BC/BFT/ZIP) use of YC days are the ones that are also great for Blues. I cannot verify as to whether the PYC days yield that same result, as I have not researched it, nor has anybody assisted in that aspect as of yet.

In the 2017 Hard Copy (wirebound printed copies), those of you will notice I have incorporated the PYC separate sig, in on the calendar dates, but in a separate place in those daily blocks, as well as Moon phases & certain holidays. But the PYC is separate from the standard Catfish Calendar 4 sigs, as it identifies the pattern running in the background. The use of both is like the merging of two separate, yet similar streamlining (like running beside each other with different rules).

Next, is that I have made up some Crappie Fishing Reports for Ron (my boss). He now has a notebook of them to fill out, as he continues. As I get about 5 to 10 reports back, I will try to get an initial pattern, be it compared to the Catfish Calendar or PYC days too. I may also try to see if there is some other pattern involved.

And Finally, not sure if any of you have heard or read about it yet, but America is about to get an across the board solar eclipse on Monday August 21st (2017). For more info, it's out there. This one has a map showing the path & the area tracked as to full or partials as it occurs going across the estimated middle of America. Mom said from one news item on it, it may become dark up to 20 minutes & temperatures may decrease as much as 20 F when it occurs. And the stars can also be observed, as if night has occurred during the day (looks to be late afternoon). It will be interesting if any of you are out fishing that day, as to what it might do to your catfishing. The 21st (August) is the 3rd day of a 7 day ZIP run. If there are many forest fires raging at the time, it may create a rather odd event as to what the view may be, as it darkens.

ill be back on lake corpus Christi this weekend, looks to be a buffet weekend. going to try to use as much live bait as I can, and fish in about 20' of water. seeing how we will have plenty of moonlight, should I fish some shallower holes? I am not sure if there is any dead zones in the lake but would like to stay away from that so my bait doesn't die, I will probably be using some cut mullet as well. last time I use cut mulled I caught several channel cats and a big alligator gar.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 07/06/17 07:30 AM

Hmm, You might try a few test jugs (juglines). Try 10' to 15' and also the 20'. And of course set a few in 5'. Probably 4 hooks each. The ones in the 5' will lay down as you stretch the line out. These will help to see if they are coming up very shallow. Usually they will come into the shallows to feed in the evening, but they might play first, then feed later due to the moonlight. Usually about this time, the deeper water will have started turning over. Plus with all of the boating from the 4th, the water is not, shall we say, very healthy. Usually the bait does not die on my lines in 8' to 13' depth. But once I get out to about 15' or 20', bait dies fast.

One article I read years ago, the guy said the thermocline would be at half level. Meaning if it was 30' deep, the dead water would be from 15' to 30' down. At 20', it would be from 10' to 20'. Whatever depth it was, he would set his R-n-R just above center depth and bait with goldfish for Big Blues as he noted they would suspend themselves just above mid level to stay in the oxygen level.

Not much to say, as I have been going in circles here with vehicles. I think I finally got the Metro leveled out, but every time I think that, it bites me you know where. The new clutch is realy great. Now I can trust it to get me to the lake & back. I am still working on the Accent. Currently, it's not running. If everything goes good, maybe I will finally succeed this weekend. Then I can get back to a regular schedule & project backlog here.

And Yes, it is hot. So Be Careful with the Heat!

If your following with expectations
Fish smaller lakes on the forecasted ZIP days and youll still manage something to get slimed
WE managed 17 well above average channels on whole live perch(3-4"- 6/0 hook)across two day Sat/Sun)
Rain all week should be right going into this Sunday

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 08/15/17 03:21 AM

The Catfish Calendar is pretty well in line. But exceptions or variables are in there as well. Weather, pressures, wind, heat, cold, thermocline, bait used, if a scope is utilized, consistency in throwing a hook into a crowd of fish, and so on.

I noted some time back that one catfishermen here locally said he did good on Channels during ZIP days. I usually catch more Channels on BFT (Buffet Days). If you learn to key in on certain aspects of the Calendar, you can get greater yields from it. Such as using what I call Bleedover. While we may have a set time for one day to the next (Midnight to Midnight), and in the case of TP&W also using that set time as well as to define a Daily Bag Limit, the Catfish Calendar does not have an actual gate (or switch) that shuts or opens from Midnight to Midnight. In other words, than can be overlaps.

In one case, one may be using natural baits & catch none during a ZIP day, while perhaps another uses special stink baits or even Gummy worms and catches a fair amount on that very same ZIP day. Chances could be in a different lake, or the very same lake.

Another example is a big YellowCat. They are super cautious & very finnicky. And yet sometimes caution is thrown to the wind. Maybe they are really hungry, or maybe they strike (or gulp) out of curiosity. Perhaps they feel threatened & are acting out of defending their territory.

There are variables with each tool, the Calendar is a tool. Each person or group should use it, learn by it, then utilize it to the best way that it works for them. Everything in this universe, regardless of spirit (energy) & matter have patterns ingrained. The trick is to recognize the patterns & utilize them as they are relative to you. Or as Stan states it best, paraphrased, "the trick is not just finding the pattern, but plugging iit into a model & see if it does anything".

One good example is Dave. He uses juglines for Catfish. He has found the best bait suited for him, chicken breast soaked in Dead Red or Bar S wieners soaked in Dead Red. Using the Catfish Calendar for over 6 years now, he has learned to key in on certain things, such as Bleedover. He may set the jugs out on the afternoon or evening of a ZIP day, going into a BC day, then runs them in the morning and makes a super BlueCat haul. He has done it in Texas, and now in Oklahoma. Now he catches so much, he usually throws some of the Big Ones back. And if he loses a good one, it's a good fish story, and he shrugs it off to say he'll get him again next time.

Another good example is Leo & family. They use it for Gator Gars, as well as Yellows & Blues. Leo even checked his notes as to the big Gator Gars caught comparing to previous calendars & noted the YC days (also noted for GG) were aligned with his catches.

As for me, I used the Calendar from August 1983 thru July 1985, almost 2 years, to finally pull in "Big'Un" a 60# Op on the Trinity River (about a 30 minute run downriver at 20 MPH from TX 21 Bridge). I had a place that I was allowed to go camping there. In actuality, it weighed in at 59# on a meat locker scale, but the tail was laying on the bottom of the scale. The guy who normally used the scale, said it should weigh in at least 65#. So I just used 60# as a reference. It would have been neat had I gotten an exact weight. First caught on a 5 hook throwline off a stump, I made the mistake of not being aware & cautious. Jimmy (my father-in-law) was sitting on the front seat. He grabbed the line & raised it enough for me to get the line. Well, there was nothing jerking, so I breezed on out for the rest of line, unsuspecting. Bad mistake. I woke her up. She decided to dive. Caught off guard, it took me across the seat, and my arm was already in the water. In that split second, I had to make a super fast decision. I chose to let go, instead of being pulled out of the boat, as she held the line in her domain. I decided to go back & this time be prepared. However, the monster (whatever it was, had gotten off). I finally set a trotline at an angle to go near the stump, to give me more leverage for future attempt. Using the YC days (as that was the day it first hit), I caught her many times, but lost her. Never saw her to determine if it was a big Yellow or big Blue (Blues also hit on YC days). But I never had encounters with her on BC days. So I leaned to the idea it was a big Yellow. After almost 2 years, I finally caught it, with my daughter Kristina who was one month shy of turning 4 years old. Kristina loved to go fishing & camping.

Anyway, the point is, I used the Calendar as a tool to mark the days in which to catch 'Big'Un" & finally succeeded. The closest was one vacation week (river fishing) of June 1984, when we baited the line with 12 giant perch on the side where it was at. Before getting all the way baiting the line (on the opposite side I would catch a mess of 12 to 14# Blues), she struck. She was taking the main line up and down the river. I had never seen a fish boil water like that as she tried to dive & get away. But just before we got close, the line went limp. Got off once again. But checking bait, she had already eaten 9 of those 12 giant perch.

Use the Catfish Calendar in the manner that works best for you.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 09/02/17 04:14 PM

Whew! What a month!

Sadly, many Texans along the coast are caught up in one of the worst disasters possible. I am happy to see many responded with boats, as well as taking time off, to assist & are still assisting those in need. Many crews from our area are being dispatched over the weekend with supplies & manpower. One 18 wheeler was being loaded to head out Friday evening to Rockport area. Among items loaded were a front end load tractor, chain saws, portable welding shop, and tools (such as shovels rakes, etc.), and so on, along with a team to work them and assist in the clean up. Donations and offers of assistance have reached up beyond across the USA, but up into Canada, as well.

You only know how bad it is, when refugees from other problems, want to give up to a week's pay to assist Texans. That is my Wife & Step Daughter's view of how bad it is, as they view the flooding & disaster from their TV in Kiev. As they are current refugees from the war in Ukraine, which caused them to flee Lugansk due to gunfire around their apartment back in May 2014 when the Russian rebels came in & took over. And yes, they know exactly who sent the rebels there. You could tell from their accents, well financed with rubles, and their demeanor (or attitude) as if they were on a paid mission.

Responses have been tremendous & due to the nature of Harvey, it is still an ongoing crisis. Everybody is encouraged to do what they can to assist. Without of course, creating a crisis for themselves. State officials claim there is no fuel shortage. But people running to the gas stations in panic buying, are emptying out some stations. Everybody is being asked to calm down & buy at the normal rate, and these things will not occur.

My Mom & Sister cooked many meals Friday to give to one volunteer firefighter group, to pass out among those refugees that are here in area places, awaiting to return to their home or what is there or not there.

And there is not good news over the horizon, as Mom informed of me of the news about 2 or so days ago. They say the Gulf of Mexico is 5 degrees higher than normal. This in turn, not only helps to draw in Hurricanes, but fuel them up even more so. And that this will become the new "norm" (meaning it will get worse & more frequent).

Meanwhile, for those than can still get out & fish, by all means do so. As this also helps to keep the economy going, which also generates jobs, income, and taxes. So, everything has its part to do in the big wheel.

Here ya go ... Note that we have finally gotten more of the BC days in September compared to the previous month or so. Sorry I am running late, as I forgot Friday was September already. It has been non-stop here & at work.

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 09/08/17 04:54 AM

Hey Guy! Hope the family is doing great there! Sorry for late response, I have fallen asleep at the keyboard last 4 nights. I have had the circle jerk with vehicles that started the very week I set up the 2017 printed Calendar back at the end of April for print. It has been going back & forth, get one going, then the other something goes wrong. So my summer has big one big spin. I think the Higher Powers are testing me, be it for patience, or for duration. Anyways, I hope to finally get the Metro running this weekend & be done finally in this whirlwind.

I have pooled all the new material together that I need to map out the 2018 Catfish Calendar. And then I can pin down those PYC days (3 day run) at the end of this December (2017) going into January 2018. First time it fell that way. I have to be able to see backwards & forwards to pin the PYC days down (YellowCat initial roam-feed pattern).

Plus I collected enough material for 2017 so if Ron has been filling out the data sheets on his Crappie catches, then maybe I can pin down a pattern on Crappie.

I just put the wheel kit & battery in on my new Predator 8750 watt Generator the weekend that Hurricane Harvey hit. I say new, as they were still in their cartons. The generator was purchased last November. That tells you just how far I am behind. I missed getting the hog pens built up here by the house (pre-spring) due to work load at the shop, as they were tilling the ground all around the vehicles. And sadly I missed getting to do any Spring catfishing. But by golly, I do have a new clutch in the Metro finally. That's how I spent my July 4th holiday. Runs great, and it really upped the gas mileage. Maybe I can map out how I can optimize it, as to fishing-wise. Still tinkering on that setting up to haul fishing gear.

For those just tuning in, "gar1970"'s family uses the Catfish Calendar for all 3 of its specified targets- Gator Gars, YellowCats, and BlueCats. They've been using it 5 or 6 years now, and have been featured in previous Hard Copy (printed) editions of the Catfish Calendar, just like Dave (from "Meat Haul" thread). See Dave's thread <http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/11941303/>

Anyhow, for all of those who use the Catfish Calendar, I'm proud of your accomplishments!!!

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 10/01/17 07:04 AM

Finally! Yes, I finally got off the wheel of car breakdowns. It has been going on since the end of April. Maybe I can get some normality back once again after 5 months of that merry-go-round.

So, let's head on into October with High Hopes & a reboot to better times. A little cool down would not hurt either. We were talking about the recent unusual high humidity for about the past 3 years with a homebuilder the other day. He told us that recently there was some discussion on it, by some group. He said that they cannot nail down exactly why it is occurring, but that it is wreaking havoc. At the cabinet shop I am at, very high humidity can warp or even blow up a cabinet door made of real, solid wood, as well as even a 1/4" plywood flat panel door. The wood simply swells up enough to pop its joints, or it can cause the panel to warp the whole door. The industry is going now for 3/8" (for flat panel) with a cutout on the back side to help prevent the warping. It seems to be working as that problem.

Here is to drier air, may it soon find its way to us. Times' a wastin'!

Anyways, here is your October 2017 Lynn's Catfish Calendar [LCC] with all the "fixins".

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 10/15/17 03:09 AM

on 9-19-17 (Tuesday), you ("carolinaskipper") noted ...

"Will be fishing this weekend. Ill let yall know if the Yellow Cats are biting!"

then posted on 9-29-17 (Friday) ...
"We went this weekend, Caught a 38 pound yellow cat. Caught about a dozen more between 5-15 pounds. Caught several channels as well. Average 5 pounds each. No blue cats. All caught on live perch."

I am guessing that you were speaking of the preceding weekend, which was as follows as to the Catfish Calendar's 4 "sigs"---
21 ZIP Thurs./ 22 BC Fri./ 23 BFT Sat./ 24 BFT Sun./ 25 ZIP Mon.

Of course, my listed "PYC" days were noted as being on the 23rd & 24th (Sat & Sun), which is separate from the Calendar, yet it is the underlying pattern I discovered for Yellows (as well as Gator Gars). And for those who get the printed Calendar, I now have those PYC days incorporated (included) on their actual numbered days, instead of separately on a sheet of paper, or in a separate list when I post the RTF version of the Catfish Calendar here on the TFF. For me, the BFT days usually bring in more Channels for me.

Anyways ... Congrats! Looking Good! Glad to assist. I like that special side shoulder shot!

Thanks for sharing the pics!!! thumb

Also, if you veer over to the Rough Fish section (that includes Gar), see "gar1970" post & pic of his son's PB Gator Gar. It was caught on a YC day 10-3-17 Tues. The 2nd & 3rd were both YC days, as well as my pick for PYC days. And as noted in the KEY, the Gator Gars run the same day as the Yellows do. thumb

Re: Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) 2017 - 10/18/17 04:06 AM

The 2017 "Hard Copy" (printed) calendar takes you to the end of December 2017. Plus gives some tips on angles to help with using the calendar. There are items to know, to get the max out of working the calendar. Along with stories & pics, not just of me, but others as well. Even at 2 to 2 1/2 months left, it is worth it, especially to those wanting to plan even just a trip or two thru the end of the year.

2017 "Hard Copy" itself is $17. Shipping is $5 protected in bubble wrap, plus tracking (USPS now rules that it is rigid due to the wire binding & must go as a 1st Class parcel). Check or money order. If you choose PayPal, an extra $1. Just email me at <hlynnh@peoplepc.com> or PM me on TFF for more info.

I am currently mapping out 2018 (January thru December). From the preliminary look, (notes & such are not handy here by the keyboard) I recall some folks might want to get a jump on July 4th (2018) starting with the weekend before. And it looked the same way for T-Day aka Thanksgiving (2018). Speaking of YC & BC. Have not done the PYC yet, as I have to map out the standard calendar, having a month before & a month after to nail which are my picks for the PYC pattern. I am truly hoping to finally have one put together before the end of the year. That will be a big first. I have already started collecting stories & pics, but there is room for a few others.

BOO!!!

With all the hoopla over spirits & goblins (and the off & on rain tonight), I almost forgot it was the last day of the month, being Halloween. That means it's time for November & what the Calendar shows for the world of Catfishing for Yellows & Blues, as well as Gator Gars.

Sorry for late response "CarolinaSkipper", but glad to hear the Calendar helps in your two big trips a year. I'll be looking forward to those stories & some pics.

I am still working on the 2018 Catfish Calendar. I will let you & everybody, know when the printed calendars can be obtained. I am trying to shoot for before the New Year. If I make it, it will be a first.

I have 2018 mapped out, but still have a lot to go to get the RTF calendars. Then of course I have to sort & map out the PYC days. And the Moon phases for each month. And then transfer all of that into the "Hard Copy" monthly calendars. And in about 2 months, hopefully Ron will have enough reports on his Crappie outings to where I can get a preliminary outlook on some regular pattern as to them.

And of course, if you thought I had nothing else to do, I am also working on compiling two books, one on ancient records sealed & set to be released for our era, and the second being on the Comet of our era, known to the Hopi as the Blue Star Kachina, the 9th & final sign. As the saying goes (something akin to), I can't die, as I have too much left to do.

Anyways, here is your November 2017 Catfish Calendar ...

That way, you will already have your fixed set lines ready to go come time for the 4 day tour. You actually have a 7 day assorted run- 21/22 are BC; 23/24/25 are BFT, but also 25th is the first of a 2 day PYC run; and 26th/27 are YC (26th being the 2nd of the PYC). For me, I prefer the BC, YC, and PYC days. But you can catch a mess of Channels on BFT days, or at least I seem to. Well, there ya go.

And I guess we need to post the KEY again, just in case you are new to Lynn's Catfish Calendar & trying to figure out what it all means.

Was going to fish yesterday but switched to today to hit one of the Prime Blue Cat days and sure glad I did! Multiple double hookups already with everything over 5lbs. And one giant that came in just over 40lbs!

Lake Ray Hubbard with cut Shad in 30 fow.

Looks like you had a Fantastic time out there, even amidst the rough waters. I've been out a few times on Limestone with either water smacking a TriHull & getting me wet. Or running lines squatting on the front big deck of a big 14" MonArk Flat Bottom, with occasional waves rolling over & still getting wet (even with an extra raised heighth by making a squared "U" to try & prevent a lot of that. Thank goodness we usually have 2 to 3 pumps, plus a few 5 & 3.5 gallon buckets to spare.

Anyways, glad you did Great!!! As you can tell, the Calendar will up your volume.

I was telling my Daughter & Son-in-law the other day, after they camped & fished at Lake Bryan, that instead of going on a YC or BC day, that maybe they should try a BFT (Buffet Day), because mostly the Lake has Channels. And that is the day I usually catch a lot of Channels.

Speaking of the Catfish Calendar, I just got thru with the monthly RTFs, then the Quarterly RTFs, and finally after some serious hea-racking, I just correlated the PYCs for 2018.

Which brings me to the item at hand ...

*** For all of those who have bought the 2017 Hard Copy (printed) 12 month calendar, here is your end of year PYC designated days. I could not figure them until I had reached into January 2018. I have to be able to have hindsight & foresight both ways, in order to properly tag those days. It is a 3 day PYC Run & it is now seen as December 31st, 2017/January 2nd & 3rd, 2018 (Sun/Mon/Tues). Naturally the 2018 Calendar ends right about the time a 2 day PYC runs, so I will need 2019 before I can make that judgement call.

And for those who did not get the printed copy, you have an early heads up on that.

Also, I briefly noted for 2018, that it's YellowCat season (YC days) the weekend heading into July 4th Holiday. Another glimpse ahead--- From Saturday June 30th thru July 4th Wednesday. In other words, a 5 day run of YC days according to the calendar. As to my PYC days, they fall on the 3rd & 4th (Tues/Wed). When I post December, I'll give you a glimpse of next T-Day (Thanksgiving) holidays. It's a full range week into the holiday & holiday weekend.

Greetings!!! Looks like we are still Summer, Fall, Winter out there. It just can't make up its mind.

If you were wanting to go BlueCat fishing this month on a weekend, you beter hit it right now (this weekend), next weekend & the last weekend of December too. You got 3 prime time weekends this month.

My apologies as I fell asleep at keyboard the past 2 nights. I am hoping to finish my luggage rack today & go get my new 12 foot flat bottom boat at Academy. It will be for Lake shallow water & possibly River research. As spare time may prevail.

I'm bettin' the frigid temps helped a bit. Plus you have about 25 to 33% that run "rogue" to the calendar standard pattern. It makes fishing interesting.

Hope you nailed 'em!!!

For some reason, I am experiencing weird glitches on TFF. Some of the stuff vanishes. This started Tuesday night when I got on. I fell asleep Monday night at keyboard & was on TFF then. I wonder if I punched a key that started it all. Everybody's avatar (nickname) & other items like that will (or might be) when I first get in the Forum, but after none, or once, those items vanish.
