Preston caught this 50lb blue this morning on Lake Lavon, caught on a shad, 7ft Berkley med-hvy rod and a 46 year old abu 5000. He did a great job!

yep getslimed, I sent the twin of that reel to freds reels and he said it was totaled, this one is still rolling along just fine. The other one made a couple trip to the ocean, I guess I didn't get all the salt outta it. You cant beat these old reels. Kinda like us old guys, we just keep going till we finally fall apart.

Dusty, I'm not sure but I think that may have set the Jr angler bluecat record on Lavon! Did you did get pics of measurements, scale weights and such so it could be certified if indeed a Jr. record? Nice fish for sure! smile

Re: 50 lb blue on Lavon - 02/22/15 08:24 PM

No I didn't, my scales aren't certified. It may have been a record, I talked to the young man and his dad about it, they said they were comfortable knowing it was a fifty lb fish, an figure they have the unofficial lake record. I have already had some carp off another site that the fish looks more like a 25 then a fifty. There were 6 guys there and they were a church group. I know what it was and so do they, I thank all the classy people on his site for there support. Thanks for you nice words bigdave1.

Re: 50 lb blue on Lavon - 02/23/15 03:07 AM

OK Dusty, Just an FYI..Don't know what kind of scale you have but I have a berkely 100 pound digital in the boat. It's not certified but it can be if the need arises. I have known others who have this scale and have had them certified so it can be done. Think it costs less than $50 or so to git it certified. If occasion arises again and I'm on the water, you are welcome to use it. I can always be reached on the marine radio! smile

As long as your scale can be certified, then you can take pic of the measurements and weights and get the scale certified after the fact. I know of other folks that have done this. No need to pay the cost of certification until ya need it assuming the scale you have can be certified.

Re: 50 lb blue on Lavon - 02/23/15 11:51 PM

I would have been impressed with a one hand pick up as well, but I had to have someone help me pull it in the boat, it was to heavy for me, the young man sat down and we put it in his lap. Why are you making these comments Milton? If you want to call us all a liar, just say it. This is the second time you have made innuendo's. I'm sorry if the fish isn't up to your standards, I guess all 7 people on the boat made all this up.
