For those that catch flatties on R&R, do you use the same weight/hook setup as for blues. I currently use santee cooper setup for blues. If not, what setup do you use?

alot of people like to use a carolina and or santee rig for flats but i honestly prefer a drop shot style rig with about a 8 inch tag line on the hook to allow my bait to swim more freely and naturally than on an ordinary setup it also allows me to keep my bait up off bottom

when i do not use this set up i ofter use large bobbers or corks whatever you want to call them and use the standard carolina rig then

I use carolina, but i big factor is if your using live bait, whatever type of weight your using on your line should be moved a bit closer to the hook, as compared to dead bait the wait should be further from the bait.

Moving the weight closer allows the live bait less swim room, so the catfish can slam it much easier.

Depends on the scenario but most often a slip sinker rig.

i don't know the name of it, but when i'm after blues or flats i use a three way swivel with the weight on the bottom and weighted line rigged for adjustable depth.

that is also a good setup for flats but make sure you use a lighter lead line for your weight that you do for you hook so if you get hung in rocks or on a log with the weight you can still pull your hook and swivel loose

I like an 18 inch weight line tied to a swivel, and then a hook line of 7-8 inches maximum.
