Granger VS Georgetown - 07/31/09 12:10 AM

It has been slow for me at Granger the last few weeks, has anyone been catching anything in Georgetown? Georgetown is closer for me, but I have heard the catfishing is very slow there, and most people who have a choice, to to Granger. Any advice?

Georgetown is not very good for Catfish. I finally realized it, after fishing there many times, mainly for the convenience.
It's mostly large Carp, lots of hangups, and a few Catfish.

A MUCH better place for Catfish is Stillhouse lake, in Temple. Pretty much the same distance from Georgetown - Granger, and I've caught very nice Cats there every time I've been there.

For bank fishing, I had great luck at the Stillhouse Dam.

Stillhouse is the place to be.

How is the water level at Stillhouse, and are the boat ramps open?

simply for the convenience, and time factor that I had, we had 6 lines in the water for 45 minutes, at 2 different spots, with shrimp, fresh cut shad, and punch bait, the only bite or nibble, was 1 turtle. Also, put out some chum. If you don't have a bite after 45 minutes, giving your chum a chance to work, it's time to move on. I don't see a reason to go back.
