It has been awhile since I've been on the water and posted a report. So met up with my younger brother and decided to do some drift fishing (which I am not the best at and trying to get better) with the wind blowing good that day. Saw lots of shad hanging around in 25 fow but it was a hard day to get any steady, constant bite going in that depth (had to fish deeper). We'd mark fish and pick up one or two here and there when drifting across points or ledges and then do another drift a little shallower or deeper.
Noticed that our shorter leader poles with small floats out-fished our longer leaders rigged with Zara spook floats by a good margin even though we didn't mark a lot of fish holding right on the bottom.
Fished chicken, cut carp and gizzard shad most of the day with shad winning by a good majority (carp and chicken pieces were trophy sized portions so that may have cut down on the bites).
Released fish over 10 lbs excluding the flatty.
Fun day and nice weather to spend time with my brother and son on the water and caught some good quality eater fish to bring home and fry up.
