Bob and Tim's Excellent Adventure

Bob and Tim's Excellent Adventure - 11/23/21 08:06 PM

Happy Thanksgiving week y'all. Blue Cat Bob and I had a play date today. We left out of Collin Park at sunrise and it was a beautiful morning. Wasn't expecting too much with the clear sky but eventually the wind came up and it wasn't a bad day. Surface temp was 59 degrees. Marked fish at all depths. Some scattered and some more concentrated. Had some good medium size Shad 8" mostly. Threw all big baits. Whole shad. Drifted all morning. Had one real good fish weighed in at 31 pounds. Fought like he was twice that. Got him on a long line so took a while to get him in the boat. Had a few big eaters and a couple teeners too. Bob's was 17 pounds and I think mine was a bit smaller.

Had a great time with Bob in the boat again. Wyatt was busy with other things. Wyatt is starting Hockey! Looking forward to the next trip Bob!

Thank you for another super day out, Tim.

Driving up to the Marina in the dark it was 42F, cold enough to freeze the testimonies off of a brass monkey! Thankfully it soon warmed up. As we were slowly motoring out of the marina, I looked over at Tim and asked him what he was thinking and where he was heading to, and why?

And that's when the questions started! I was asking Tim 1001 questions the entire trip. What does this mean on the fish finder? What depth is going to be optimal today? And on and on...

Tim answered every single question comprehensively and was incredibly patient. As per our previous trip, I learned a ton of stuff and sucked it up like a sponge.

On our first drift the sun was already blaring, so I joked that we (I) had all the excuses for a skunk day all lined up. Except we didn't need any excuses. Tim hooked into a good fish that was spinning drag like crazy and bending one of his new his 'Mad Katz' rod's double. It put up a galant fight, and he eventually bought a beautiful 31 pound blue in the boat. What a fight! More fish followed and I snagged a 17 pound blue, a beautiful fish, and most welcome after my trip to RayBob last week when I skunked.

Those Mad Katz rods are the business.....super impressive.

We also spent some time talking about the best Catfishing boats on the market, deep V's, center console, tin v fiberglass, and spent a few thousand bucks we don't have - hah! "I need a bigger boat for Christmas, sweetheart"

Did you now that large catfish heads show as yellow on fish on the fish finder?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Mad Kats are the real deal, Parks planer boards are the best boards hands down , and the bone in a catfish head is red on my bird.
