Twok kids fishing trip suggestions - 05/22/21 06:49 PM
Gonna take the kids fishing Tawakoni tomorrow. Any suggestions to get them into a bunch of catfish. Looking for action over quality. I don't fish this lake much so any help would be appreciated. I have a boat and a bucket of chum. Planned on using shrimp and dough bait unless you guys feel I should go another direction. Thanks in advance!

Fish windblown grass/brush lines on the north end of the lake , get you some fresh shad if possible .

When I used to fish there regularly, there was a grass line just outside and north of the cove at Tawakoni Marina, between there and the 2 mile bridge. The grass line on the west side of the lake usually held fish about anytime of year. Other than that, I agree with Drawout. Go north. I used to make about a 7 mile run up to the timber on the far north end. I caught fish up there year round.
All that said, I think the blues are going on the nest so finding catchable fish is going to be a bit more challenging for the next little while, probably until about the 4th of July...
Good luck, good hunting...
