Help me out. This was caught at my neighborhood duck pond

Side Note: Texas Parks & Wildlife has an Fresh Water Species identification section on their main web site. Shows photos of the main fresh and salt water species that are caught in Texas waters. coolio

It is a black bullhead (Ameiurus melas). Black bullheads have 17 to 21 anal rays and black chin barbels, while the yellow bullhead (Ameiurus Natalie) has 23 to 27 anal rays and white chin barbels.

We called em Pollys..i know we probably ate them long time ago
but we usually didn't keep them. They do have a pretty color.

I love this forum. You guys have a ton of knowledge. I just saw the yellow color on the skin and I stand corrected. On a side note this little 2 lbs bullhead put up a good fight. Ran like a sand bass at times.
