Lewisville 3-21

Lewisville 3-21 - 03/21/21 10:11 PM

Got a late start today and hit the water at noon. Wind was howling so we decided to pull boards instead of anchor fish. We found a big pile of fish in 22 feet so we pulled boards through em 2 short runs. We had our usual Lewisville spring trip with lots of dinks but we were able to get a few good ones. Jaxon missed a toad early on and got upset. Dad missed the next one which really put us on tilt . ended up with 20 eaters and a handful of slot fish. Biggest we’re 21 and 26lbs. [Linked Image]

Hoo Wee! The High Planes Drifter does it again. Nice box of eaters there Chris. Plus a 21 and a 26, I'd say for a late start, in March you did very well. Jaxon's face in that pic with the 26... He was not happy. No sneaking out for a mid week trip this week. I'm out of town til late Friday. Forecast is for sunny and 78 then. I'll be thinkin about my plan of attack all week...

Don't know if I'm mad or happy. Tennessee River was flooded last weekend and the Ditto Landing parking lot was under water. Weatherman says it looks like 3 - 5 inches on Thursday which means it will be in flood stage again this weekend. One thing I miss about Lewisville, no matter how high the lake got, I could always launch at Little Elm.

Thanks amigos! It was a great weekend for my son. He kicked it off with a hat trick (3 goals) in his soccer game Saturday morning and made coach dad super proud. We won our game 14 to 1! ⚽️⚽️⚽️. Those boys can play some soccer! Coaching 5 yr olds is a real hoot! We finished the weekend off with Jaxon catching his new personal best of 26lbs. That fish gave Jaxon all that he could handle! I see that Jr Angler record for Lewisville coming home to our house in the next few years... [Linked Image]

Awesome memories. I haven't worked up the courage yet to let Pax reel in a good fish without it being in the rod holder. HAHA. Maybe next year.

I hear ya Matt! I will probably regret it at some point but he just started doing it on his own so I just watched closely and he handled the rod like a pro. I said “oh, taking the rod out of the holder now Jax? He said “ ya, I can’t keep the rod tip up so I keep loosing fish!” Now that’s good stuff right there! He’s heard me coaching others on my boat on how to land fish and I guess it sank into his little brain. He loves taking the rod out of the rod holder and fighting fish now so even if he looses a rod it’ll be well worth it. He couldn’t get the rod out of the rod holder on that big fish for a good 10 minutes until it tired out considerably. He saw me reel in a set of hip waders last summer and he thought he caught him a pair! He said “ dad! I think I caught a pair of pants! Lmao!!!!! He got several lines tangled but I kept my cool and let him do his thing. He has lost most of the big fish he has tangled with and was getting discouraged where he just wanted to be the net man for the bigger ones. So glad he was able to land one after losing the last 5. He’s also trying to unclip planer boards now but his little fingers aren’t strong enough to pinch the red clips on the big boards yet. Man these are fun times we’re living in!
