Hope They Made It

Hope They Made It - 04/25/20 02:54 AM

Was out fishing on the bank north of Oak Point ramp and there was a wakeboard boat with possible engine trouble trying to make it around a point but the wind was so bad he had to go straight into the waves and then cut back at an angle. He was fighting to get around this point for 30 min. It seemed like he was using a trolling motor because the boat moved so slow but it was a wakeboard boat so I assumed he just had engine trouble.

Not a good evening to be on the east bank with that North West wind.

Other than that I only caught two blues. Was totally surprised I didn't tear them up. Oh well maybe next week.

Years ago, I was fishing in my boat off Oak Point when I lost my ability to steer left. Try getting back and hit that narrow ramp when you can only steer right. Oakpointaggie, my friends are doing good right now in the first cove north of the boat ramp. Especially with the lake being so high.

That's where we had been fishing and where doing pretty good the last few weeks. Something changed because we got skunked yesterday. Maybe the shad have moved some because we had perfect conditions and nothing.

Can’t speak for everybody, but I’ll never see somebody having boat trouble and not help them out assuming I’m in a boat capable of towing them.

I have encountered others on the water in need of help that I didn't even have to tow. I have quite a few things in my "oh, carp" box that seem to help others a lot more often than they help me. It sure can make for some happy faces when you get them out of a jam.

Are you fishing on the Emerald Sound side or Crescent Oaks side?

Yep. I was stranded on eagle mountain for over 4 hours one night. Atleast 4 boats ran past me while I was flagging them down with a flashlight and wailing on the horn. All I needed was a jump.

Do you own a lithium-battery based jump-starter? I think no sportsman should be without one. I own 2 and consider them a mandatory item. I've started generators, lawn mowers, ATVs, trucks, and cards with them - all the way to 6.2L block size. At 3 pounds or so in a zip up case, it's easy to set one from the truck over in the boat as a get ready to launch the boat. I'm confident it can turn over my Merc 250 if I find myself needing a boost. I trust myself for the best help.

I would out on Richland Chambers and this happed to me. Water pump went out and over heate . had to use my trolling motor the wind was so bad I couldn't go forward. After about 45mins I just let the wind push me to a bank were I sat for 6hrs waiting for with wind to die down because I left my cell phone in the truck. finally I seen a boat and shot a flare, the pulled me back the ramp

Im on the Emerald Sound side. We paddled out from a park in canoes. There was not anything I could have done for them. They could have come to the cover we were in and waited for the wind to die down. At the end of last summer there was a large boat with engine trouble and we went to help him. He had been drinking and was testing his newly "repaired" engine. When I pulled up to see if he needed help he said yes and he launched from the 121 marina ..
