Bassman---Little Wheel is on target. Lake Fork is loaded with channel cat and Stubby's Cheese Bait on a #4 treble hook will do the trick. I've went on a guided trip with Stubby once on Fork and caught a huge mess. I also met Mrs Stubby and Little Wheel was there too and they are all good folks. There are other lakes in the DFW area that have good populations of channel cat. You can get that info off the Texas Parks and Wildlife web site under the lakes menu. I think Little Wheel and Stubby would both agree to lay down some range cubes that are at least 20% protein. Lone Star Feed makes a cottonseed meal cube that is 36%. That's my personal choice, but there are other good brands out there. Many of the state parks that have closed water will stock channel cat, but they limit you to 5 a day, but no length limit. What you'd do with an eight inch fish is beyond me, but you can keep them. I always wait for the big boys to show up. You can catch all you want, but only harvest 5 per angler. I only use Stubby's bait for channel cat. Its that good and he doesn't pay me to say that. Like the cubes, there are other brands out there that will work, but Stubby's is my personal choice. It has never failed me when others have and it works any season of the year. All this info is for rod/reel fishing.
