Lewisville 1-02-20

Started the New Year with a bang. Bait was easy in 40 ft. Looked for fish in 40, 35, and 30ft but everything was laying on the bottom. Moved up The channel and finally started marking real good fish pushing bait. Dropped some giant baits on em and started pulling boards. Didn’t take long to get hooked up with an 18lbr. Then a 21! Then a triple! 17,13,20! Started to feel pretty good and bang! 25...then a 42! Best day I’ve had on Lewisville in a long time and the perfect way to start 2020!

WOW! Do you keep the shad alive or just fish them dead? If dead, how do you hook them?

I fish em dead, filet down one side with the tail cut off or I chop em in half. I like hand sized baits or bigger. I also use the big filets. Caught everything on stinger rigged planer boards with 8-10” baits.

I wish I could stack em up like that every trip! I got lucky to find those fish. Everywhere I looked everything was laying on the bottom except one area about the size of a football field.

No time to clean the boat until March Nut. I clean it when it starts to warm up and wife starts asking to go to the lake!
