Academy 39 buck reel review. - 10/22/19 11:08 PM

I take guys out fishing so i decided to buy a catfish setup for my guests. I got the 14 dollar glass rod at academy and paired it withthe 39 dollar H20 reel and it works great. Cannot beat price and performance has been good also. I put 40 lb braid on it and gave used it for several weeks. I fish every week because that is what retired guys do!

I have several of those. However, there is a Lews 8 ball bearing for the same price. After awhile, the H20 bail flies open on Hooksets . Stubby and I will be out browsing tomorrow

Littlewheel i am using the h20 baitcast model. I prefer baitcasters for fishing. It all started when i got that green 5000 d for christmas when i was 12. Yes i still have that original reel and it works. The frame is bent so drag is not good. I will prbably buy a new frame because that reel has bern with me awhile since i am now 60 years old. Keep hanging out with Stubby he is good people.i know i should switch to dpincasters and i now thinkni prefer the penn fierce 3 model for my fishing. Of couse i coukd use one if my other 75 combos tg hat my wife hares in the garage. I may get a storage unit forvthe lake for my combos. Rest assured that original 5000 d still gets use and it is my prized item. I do realize the D was a lower end reel from the beginning but 50 years with some very hard use proves it is a very good choice. I hage had itvin the mud and creeks since the 70's. Befor ed i vould afgord a boat i yook it on my float tibe and stared cotyonkouths in the eyes while driftinf diwn a moving creek. Well i was never acused of being very intelligent at times.lol

Well I just assumed you were using spinning rods. I have some of the h20 baitcasters also. Never had any trouble with them. They are the “ Mettle” series

I will be by this week to pay for that rod you made me. I cannot eait to use it on the lake. I suspect i may switch to the spinning reel after getting my rod. The sebsitivity of your rids are incredible and yes they are the best just like you.

Thank you little i will be over to see stubby today or tomorrow . I need to take you fishing on my spots someday. Yes you are welcome to use my spots for your guide service. I got at least one guy who uses his binoculars to watch the action then shows up on my spots. It is a big lake but i guess he does not wan tg to buy range cubes. I dour milo also and use it often in my boat. I just like the cubes when i start a hole. Most often when i start a spot i will fump a half bag of cubes to get thos fish to like my chosen area. I just need to get some places more near where my rv is in mustang. I burn gas in that pontoon running all over. It is hard to stay in eold when you know they are biting in glade or birch. Now if i were needing to steal locations i would watch someone better than myself. I do catch loads but often struggle with too many small fish. I started throwing back anything short of 14 inches long. So if i ever get checked my boat has no fish that are even close on the small side.
