Anyone have any success using can dog or cat food as bait?
If yes, what brand and flavor?

Never as bait, but we would use canned dog food as chum. Back in the day we would poke some holes in a can of cheap dog food, tie some fishing line to it and drop it down in the crappie dock I used to fish. Come back a few days later, pull up the empty can and repeat. After a week, go back and fish the area and would catch more than enough channel cats for the fish fry.

I have used Old Roy dog food as bait both as a hair rig and pack bait. I caught more carp and buffalo then catfish but did catch a few cats. The main problem is that is breaks down quickly and as mentioned before if there are sunfish in the area they will pick it apart quickly. For catfish I would go with some of the processed catfish baits like Mr. Whiskers or cut bait.

Stubbys bait is easy to use and don't make you stink for days.
