Need some help on Hubbard cats

Me and my son are fairly new to catfishing and haven't done that great the last couple of times. We are fishing the north end of hubbard from a bass tracker. We've primarily tried the bridge under 66 and the standing timber just north of there. It's a little boat, so not going down to the dam unless it's a very calm day. We have been trying punch bait and small shad. No luck catching bigger shad in the net.

maybe buy a bag of range cubes and bait about three locations then go back to 1 and sit a while, no luck hit 2 or 3.give it a little time.

Go all the way to the far north end of the lake. fish around the mouth of the creek that's coming in from Lavon, especially when they're releasing water.

I did buy cattle pellets, and have been chumming the areas we fish. We've caught a few nice eating fish here and there, but it's very sparse and inconsistent.

If you got a good spot on tawakoni to try, I'd go there too

Yeah all the way up North. There a lot of flooded grass around the mouth of that creek. Fish the sides of the main creek channel.

You may want to look for the Bois 'd arc trees with white limbs. Those trees are where the birds roost and are constantly dropping undigested shad and other kinds of fish they have eaten. Its not uncommon to see shad covering the limbs, that's why they're stained white. The catfish stay close for an easy meal, try shad, perch or blood bait around those trees, around the time the birds first come in to roost and after dark.

Went up to the creek mouth, no luck. The water was a little rough due to wind though. Tried a few different trees at different depths from 3' to 12' ft. Finally settled under the 66 bridge and caught four channels in around 18 ft

Like RL said, fish the white trees in the North end. I head to the deep once the water is <40

It might sound surprising but my best luck hasn't come from fishing directly around or near the trees. There is structure under the water around the creek channel; just cause you can't see anything sticking out of the water doesn't mean there isn't structure. Some areas, so much structure that I have to use a float and fish over it.

But full disclosure, I only fish this area during the spring and summer.
