Went out last night around 9pm to do some bank fishing. Went to a cove east of Murrell Park. Caught some bluegill and small drum in the cast net, started fishing and the bites started quick. Had a dozen or so huge hits that bent the rod ALL THE WAY down but then they let go. Figured it was gar and we were right. Around midnight we finally landed the first gar that was about 4ft and another a bit later about the same size. Didn't feel like moving spots so we stuck it out and around 1:30am I finally got a blue cat. That one fish definitely saved the trip. It's my 2nd largest blue cat ever so I was pleased.
