Float Tube on Tawakoni?

Float Tube on Tawakoni? - 07/21/18 01:14 PM

I love fishing out of my float tube and would like to put some eating size cats in the freezer. never fished the lake before and was wondering if there is any good place along the southern shore (I live in Athens) to safely launch and fish out of a tube for eating size fish. I have no interest in the 20+ pound monsters in the lake just the 2 and 3 lb fish. I have been warned about wind which is why I am trying to find a safe place.

Also which baits would be best since a tube has limited storage space available.

Cheers Y'all

If you are worried about getting caught in the wind, have a backup flotation like an inflatable life jacket. Carry a diver's knife in case you get caught up in a trotline, and also some wire cutters. Another thing would be to take a flag that sticks up high enough for boats to see you. It goes without saying you'll have your cell phone sealed in a baggie.

For bait, I'd use cut up drum or bluegill.

I've never fished the lake, but I'd assume a slip float with some sort of punch bait around brush would be a good way to start
