Good morning gentlemen, I hope all is well and that the fish were biting over the weekend. Last week, after we polished off our crappie limits, I had a few trips want to chase sandbass. When I stopped on some very large schools of what I thought were mostly sandies, I found out quickly that we were on top of a very large amount of blues.

We would drop our jigs down and catch 2-3 pound blues about as quickly as it got down to the bottom. I can't even imagine how good we would have done if we had been using shad, cut perch, shrimp, etc. These fish were on a hump in 19-23ft, north of Deer Island on the east side of the lake. We always called this hump the Iron Wall hump, but guides have different names than what the general public usually knows them as.

I'll put it to you this way, we had to leave and find another hump because the blues were so thick. Hopes this helps!
