Don't say that! I'm headed there in the morning.

Nice video as usual, Rick. I'm sure we will be crossing paths pretty soon. It's that time of year again.

Medic , not trying to discourage you bro. I thought they would be gorging before this cold weather rolling in.
I drifted 50’, 40ish ,30ish caught two fish. Enet looks quiet so I’m thinking everyone took the same whoopin. There down there for sure. But I was dragging 8” filets looking for those bigguns.

Roman, I was fishing a fishery that I’ve spent a pretty good bit of time on buddy and nobody was around, but reguardless, Heck yeah I have em Roman. I’ve had to eat so many skunks it’s not even comprehendable. Lol! When it comes to skunking though, it really depends on what your really going for. Is one fishing for eaters, trophy fish, or maybe even both. But, no matter what, I don’t care who you are in this sport, your most likely just gonna have to eat the big goose egg every now and then. It’s inevitable.... But!!!!!!! Now that I’ve said that I can say this!!!!! If a person had time on the water coupled with endless funds and free-time, it would be down right scary how good they could get at this man... It’s crazy....

On another note, I’ve been doing this for around 7 years or so I think now. Plus or minus a year or two or so not totally sure. Anyways, tonight I am at home rerigging all my rigs just a wee bit different. Again!!!!! And all because of one single thing that happened to me the other night. Really two things though, but anyways. It was something I’ve never seen.

Ok. Here I go... It’s dark. I had my head light on, I had already hooked a 38 and a 29 or 30lber and I had em hanging in the water secured to the side cleats on my little boat just by using the fish grips ( because it was all I had at the moment ) so all that weight wasn’t in the rig with me while I was moving around and I have no livewells in that thing. Anyways, the drag on one of my big rigs started peeling off. I said “ oh [censored] “ and I reached over and reeled down on it. I then pulled the rod out the holder and started to gently bring the fish in. It went down to the bottom a couple of times but started to come back up to the surface. It was about 15 feet or so from the boat when I saw my liter come up and then whammmm!!!!!!! As I was laying my eyes on maybe the biggest bluecat I’ve ever seen to date, the fish then realized what was going on and he spit my hook and bait out like somebody that got a bad sunflower seed!!! Right there, right in front of me, and then the fish slowly said “ swooooooooooosh “ and with one swipe of that huge tail, vanished into the darkness and was gone!!!!!!! Bro, I guess I will never be 100 percent certain, but I reeled this fish all the way to the boat on lockjaw and lockjaw alone!!!! I never had him hooked!!!!! I said what the $$$$ and the first thing I did was check my drag. It was so low you could just literally pull it out like nothing!!!!!!! cheers cheers cheers coach whip whip whip

Turn that drag up and stop trying to baby them Rick!!! Drive that hook through the bone!!! Then you can crank that drag down and play them out.

Did use a PRIME trick other day. We'd had some short strikes and I'd had a good take down that felt like a toad that just let go as soon as I got the rod out the holder. So we went to clickers and I started letting them run a little before reeling down. Caught 2 or 3 eaters. Moved to next spot and first TINY bump was on a 5500c3 without a clicker. So I pushed the button and thumbed the spool. He'd barely bump it and I'd give him some line he'd swim a little then stop. Then he'd bump it again. Finally he decided he liked it and started swimming left and I reeled down boom solid hook up to feels like a 10-15lb fish. Then........drag screaming, FULL drag not light peeling off like crazy, NOT a 15lber get the net!!! lol.

Fully believe I wouldn't have got this one with reel locked in rod holder waiting on a big "take down". Used Rick's old let em take it trick hehe.
