Pardners, I’m gonna take a minute and talk about sumpin... I decided to come out here to the wifes families old barn and discuss what I call a violent fishery...
I bet that lakes definitely got a toad in it and they can be caught in it, but I’m gonna go ahead and list it as what I call a “ Violent Fishery “. My definition of a “ Violent Fishery “ is a body of water that has such a poor concentration of monster fish in it, that the best time to target them and catch them is on violent weather days and just almost the violent weather days only. It’s the kinda days that turn most men into boys, and most boys into children that can’t find any chocolate! Lol! It’s the days that the monster fish know, that no one in their right mind would be out there trying to catch them. It’s at this moment and this moment only the monster fish throwaway all their safeguards and feed like it’s going outta style with no parameters guiding them.
I’ve spent the last 3 or 4 years trying to prepare my big rig so I can as safely as possible fish on these kinda days but it’s not easy. It’s not like I have a dad or a grandfather saying ok, son, “ you can’t do this kinda stuff, that way, on that kinda day out there you here me “!!! It’s just something I gotta slowly dig down deep in to, and try improve my ability and my rigs ability to safely target these kind of fish on those kinda fisheries, on those kinda days each time I’m out in em.
I remember last year when me and Randy we’re fishing Twok and we both knew we we’re going for that one fish! That One Fish!!!!!! Now, Twok is not a Violent Fishery, but we we’re still going to hit it and fish it like it was a Violent fishery on a Violent day! We had fished several areas to no avail when we finally found what we really wanted in an area that was way downwind. Since we we’re so far downwind, the waves that we’re hitting the front of the boat we’re about what I would consider 3 to 4 footers. Anyways it was no prob. I tied us up to a monster tree that hopefully wouldn’t break, and then double tied us to it just to make sure it held. We we’re just fine, but every now and then, a dern rogue 7 or 8 foot wave would litarely come outta the middle of no where and pound over the bow of my boat!!!! I was like “ Randy, what the hell was that”????!!!!! And I remember the worst part wasn’t the wave coming over the front, it was when the back of the boat would come down, it would slam down so hard and go so deep that a foot or two of water would come rushing thru the back of my open transom and swamp the boat all the way up to the front deck!!!!! After about 5 of those, my front anchor rope finally ripped the cleat off the front of the bow of my boat!!!! It sounded like a 50 caliber went off and then we slammed tight my backup rope!!!!!!! I said “ [censored] we gotta get the heck outta here Randy “!!!!!! He didn’t hesitate one second!!!!! We reeled in all the rigs as fast as we could and then hit the key and the boat wouldn’t start!!! We tried every thing we could do to get it started but after about 5 more of those rouges, I knew we we’re screwed and we had to call Tom!!!! Lol!!! We had our life jackets on and had already made our escape plan if the backup rope broke and the boat went flipping into the trees!!! We we’re going to stay together and swim, until we made it to the closest bank that was maybe about 100 yards away. We we’re ready for whatever we had to do if we had to do it!!! About an hour later I looked up and saw Tom coming!!!!! He was like the White Knight Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, we didn’t know what was goin on then but I do now. The water coming rushing in thru the back of the boat, swamped the boat so bad that the water flushed down in over my fuel tank, seeped through cracks in the hoses and the tank and vapor locked my engine.
Now, heres a pic of what the back of my boat use to look like...
This is what it looks like at the moment...
And this is my new custom 108 gallon fuel tank sitting in the yard and waiting for me to install it when I get my boat back... Lol!!!!!
