New fence cost - 01/19/15 08:01 PM
What is a ballpark number for the cost of a new fence? Need roughly 50' at 8' height, and about 80' at 6' height. Standard fence, not board on board.
I haven't approached my neighbor yet about splitting the cost. Just want a budget number before I open that conversation.

panel cost run by grade.. any gates? quick figure with info. you gave material cost will be around $1200,if you pick it up yourself, you will pay 1/3 more if contractor delivers , cement, post, nails, screws, eight 8 foot panels and ten 6 foot panels... labor will run around $15-1600 if you hire a "handyman" more for a fence "pro" this does not cover the cost of taking down and hauling off your old fence,,, labor and material cost will be 1/3 (or more) higher if you go with metal post and hardware... this would be a "mid-grade" fence,, panels from lowes $3,000 to 3,500 total just a quick bid, don't hold me to it

If you plan to stay in that house I would recommend going cedar more expensive up front but will last many years longer.

around here it's 20/ft for 6' fence, and for 8', i'd say maybe 25/ft. i did about 80ft of 6ft myself and it was about 500$ materials and a weekend.

I've had to go up some so here are my new prices:
6' pre-made panels w/metal post every 8' - $20/linear ft.
6' constructed w/metal post every 8' - $24/ln. ft.
6' constructed w/metal post every 6' - $26/ln. ft.
8' constructed w/four rails and w/metal post every 6' - $32/ln. ft.
This is just to build the fence not taking down and hauling away old fence.
Trim and weedeater guard boards are additional as are gates.
Seal it with Redi-Seal.
Available at home Depot now.

The only stain I will use. My supplier Master-Halco has it for less than HD.

I used it on my Mom's fence 6 years ago and it still looks awesome.
They started selling it a year and a half or so ago I believe.
Man I need to replace my 6ft builder fence this spring, 154lnft. I want a new 8ft cedar, but the quotes I've got are insane. I'm trying to decide if I can do it my self.
Thank you for the PM roller
