i have corn 2 ft tall...bell-jalapeno peppers / Porter-Celebrity maters that'll last till frost...green beans blooming...but for fall/winter, i plant carrots / broccoli / cabbage / cauliflower since they all can take frost

I usually have tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, spinach, carrots and beans in my fall garden. Tomatoes and peppers are both about 3' tall now. Beans are in, but not sprouted yet. Just started pre-sprouting some spinach seed this afternoon.

We just pulled up our green beans and the purple hull pease will come up this week or next. May not have a fall garden this year as we got some compost that had Nutsedge seed in it (commercial place forgot to use pre-emergent) and apparently did not heat it long enough. We are going to try the solar soil sterilization method. We have lots of sand so I am going to leave my soaker hoses in place to add water as needed for steam. Has anyone else done this with sandy soil?
