RHBC Lavon Results and Pictures! - 08/21/18 03:14 AM

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our seventh members only tournament of 2018 on Saturday August 11th at Lake Lavon. Uncharacteristically cool temperatures and steady rain fell throughout the morning. I actually mentioned the word "chilly" to my partner that morning, which I don't think I have ever done in August in Texas. Well, I'm getting old. Fishing was pretty good for about half of the 43 boat field, our best turnout of the year. 15 boats brought limits to the scales. When the dust settled, the team of Brian Roether and Brad Reagan weighed a great limit of 20.36 pounds for the win. No giants in that bag, just a bunch of 4 pounders. But there was a giant brought in. For the second year in a row, Lake Lavon kicked out a 10 pounder for big bass. Eddy Wooldridge and Bryan Toombs brought the 10.02 behemoth to the weigh in. Here are full results and pictures.

Nothing happens on tournament days without my crew. From left to right, Robert Hitt, David Mulkey, John Bruner and Paul Spann.

Paul Spann and Broderick Yeager had one for 2.39

James and Shellye Crawford brought a lone soldier to the party that weighed 2.77

James Clifton and Justin Bloch weighed three for 4.90. James has the ZZ Top beard. grin

Sevy Bartlett and Charles Tea had two for an adjusted 5.03

My partner was not pleased to take this picture, but I made him do it anyway. We weighed three for 5.59 (all his)

Jason and Lisa Bell had three for an adjusted 6.91

Mandy and Mike Kizer had a limit for 7.98

Bubba Davis fished with Brian Jordan and they weighed two for 8.63, but their kicker was a 6.86 beast!

David Burton fished with new member Michael Parkes and they weighed three for 9.80.

Their kicker fish weighed a solid 6.35

Kelly Langhorne and Jeremy Collins had five for 11.44

Clark Crenshaw and Roddy Bieber weighed a limit for 11.52

Kenny and Kasey Bunch weighed five for an adjusted 11.72

Cameron Laing and Patrick Sharp had a limit for an adjusted 12.02

Preston Smith and David Horton had five for 12.20

Another top 10 finish keeps Bryce Glick in the AOY race. He and his Dad, Fred weighed five for 12.66

The toughest place in tournament fishing, first out of the money went to Joe Ruiz and Doug Reardon who had five for 13.34

Finishing sixth with a limit for 13.70 were Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon

Another in the money finish for Roger Davis and Chris Bichler getting fifth with a limit of 14.05

Vince Burt and Mark Werner just keep piling up those AOY points, this time with a fourth place finish. They weighed four for 14.11

Last years AOY Andy Medina fished with new Lavon local Doug Rener and they got third place with a limit that weighed 15.17

Finishing second with a great limit that weighed 18.32 were Dennis and Damon Machost. Their best fish was a 6 pounder.

If you're going to weigh two fish, might as well make one of them a 10 pounder! Here's Eddy Wooldridge with their 10.02 giant.

Here are your winners! RHBC VP Brian Roether and Secretary Brad Reagan weighed in the 20 pound sack I predicted would happen. 20.36 pounds to be exact. Congratulations on the win guys!

Thanks to all my guys pictured above and also Tommy Yates for checking live wells and getting through weigh in on a day when we had lots of fish to weigh. A personal thank you for the help on the dead battery issue on my truck go to Kasey and Kenny Bunch, Stan Browning, David Burton and of course my great partner Chris Atkinson. You all showed what being in a Club is about. Our next tournament is Saturday September 8th on our home lake of Ray Hubbard. Meeting will be on August 6th. See you there!
