Lake Fork Anglers (alligator) results for 6/14, next is 6/28 out of the Minnow Bucket - 06/14/18 10:46 PM
The Lake Fork Anglers Twice monthly results for June 14 was hot with only one skunk. The morning started out windy but as it got hotter and the wind went away. Water temps were around 83-85.
Side story Gary Pardini fishing with Jim DeVore was throwing a frog up onto some floating stuff and an alligator bit his bait. Gary not actually seeing what it was set the hook and the fight was on. Finally after getting it to about 10 feet from the boat and the gator opened it's mouth and the frog flew out. They said it was about 3 feet long and then went right back to where it was. So Jim threw his senko into the stuff and the gator struck at that too.
And four weeks ago on a Wednesday two of our members pulled a drowning man out of the water. He was running a trot line in a small flat bottom boat and got swamped by a boat going by. Luckily they came along and pulled him to safety. That was the only Wednesday we have fished on in 4 1/2 years.
Got to keep our eyes open out on the water.
The majority of bass were caught on baby brush hogs and whooper-ploppers. Lake Fork anglers format is a draw style paper tournament where slot fish count. All fish are measured, recorded and released on the spot year round.
Each boat has a boater and a co-angler.
Only the best five count.
Boater Results
1st place goes to Mark Talley with 6 bass for 16.55 with THE 5.49 boater lunker caught on a topwater.
2nd place goes to Gary Pardini with 6 bass for 13.45 lb. with a 4.49 lb. lunker.
3rd place went to Jim DeVore with 7 bass for 13.01 lb. with a 4.31 Lb. lunker.
4th place went to Dennis Bubinas with 5 bass for 8.33 with a 2.49 lunker.
5th place went to Mike McWhorter with 6 bass for 7.81 lb. with a 2.13 lunker
Co-Angler Results
1st place goes to Ray Carter with 1 bass for 7.17 which was the Co-Angler LUNKER..
2nd place goes to Tom Charlebois with 3 bass for 6.39 lb. with a 3.62 lunker.
3rd place went to Tom Whitrock with 3 bass for 5.37 lb. with a 3.02 lb. lunker.
4th place went to John Berech with 2 bass for 4.56 with a 2.74 lunker.
5th place went to Butch Grove with 3 bass for 3.84 with a 1.45 lb. lunker
A total of 80 bass were caught on a day that became very hot very fast. After the morning bite it does get difficult.
The LFA fishes every Thursday during the month on three different format. The as described LFA twice monthly format where there are declared cash winners fishing for "Angler of the Year" points and plaques.
On another Thursday we have what we call Faze 4 which is a drawn team tournament fishing cash, while putting aside money for an annual benefit to the winners of a 2 day championship held in December. Members must fish 4 F-4 events during the year to qualify for the championship.
On the 4th and 5th Thursdays members fish what we call "Hard Core" which follows the Major League Fishing TV show format where every fish you catch counts. Like MLF members we try to qualify for the semi-final that will be held in Sep by catching at least 6 LB in any of the qualifying tournaments'
In Sep members those that have quailified are paired and the first ten to catch 8 lb have then quailified for the championship in Oct.
Winning members are rewarded with "Bass Fishing Innovations" plaques and a cash benefit.
Not all of our 50+ members fish every week or even all three formats on a regular basis. We are seniors and fish when we have the time. But we do have a core group of about 32 that fish on a regular basis. And because we are mostly seniors we are adamant in making sure there is always two anglers in a boat. Both for safety and for sharing ,learning and making an enjoyable day of it.
Annual dues is $5 and tournaments are $15 with $12 paid back. There is an optional $5 lunker pool and an optional $10 big bag pool.
