Is this a team or individual club?

Re: McKinney Bass Club 2018 Schedule - 11/28/17 05:31 AM

The McKinney Bass Club was created in 2006 to promote the sport of bass fishing in North Texas through a competitive atmosphere of good sportsmanship and fellowship. It is also a forum to share ideas on fishing techniques, bait selection, fishing patterns used during tournaments and enables all members to become better bass anglers. We typically average 14 - 16 boats per tournament and welcome both Boaters and Non-boaters to join.

Teams: Each team will consist of one boater and one non-boater. Teams will be drawn randomly at the monthly meeting. If we have more non-boaters than boaters the club will make every effort to solicit a boater from other sources. In the event boaters cannot be found, the excluded non-boaters become the first eligible non-boaters in the next months tournament draw. In the case of not having enough non-boaters needed to complete teams, the remaining boaters will have the option to fish as a team or solo (excluding paper tournaments, in which they will be paired).

Pairings: Every effort will be made to promote club camaraderie and redraw pairings if partners have already fished together that season.

Glad I'll be on a cruise then. Going to be a real cold weather problem next year with power plants shutting down!

Thinking about joining. It will be my first club to join. I’ve fished as a guest in MBA but that’s it. Are all of the members hella good sticks or is it a good mix from novice-expert?

Returning and Former Members:

The January meeting will be our next opportunity to change the club by-laws! We are hearing chatter about a number of changes that will be submitted. Please come and be prepared to present, discuss, and vote on all of the changes! The current by-laws we will be amending are available on the MBC website as linked in the original post in this thread.

The link to the By-Laws is broken. If any of you have a copy and wouldn't mind sending it to me, please let me know and I'll provide my email address. More than anything, I'd like to know if there are age restrictions. TIA.

By Laws will be published shortly. We basically discussed and voted in a new set of by laws after the team vote.
There is no age restriction, but those under 18 must fish with a parent or guardian

Re: McKinney Bass Club 2018 Schedule - 01/12/18 05:56 PM

We've been getting a lot of questions about membership since the announcement of the change in format. We're still finalizing our revised bylaws and tournament rules, but here are some high-level bullet points for anyone interested in joining.

Tournaments are member-only events
Membership is $30/year and you can sign up at any monthly club meeting (at least one member of the team must attend a meeting before fishing a tournament, but both anglers must have paid their membership fee, filled out the membership form, and waiver)
Tournament fees are $80/boat
We have 10 monthly tournaments from January-October with a 2 day classic in November
Qualification for the classic is based on attending 1 more than half the monthly tournaments, meetings, and at least 1 community event
AOY is based on points earned in tournaments with 2 drops per year

You can ask questions here, of email us at mckinneybassclub01@gmail.com

How do you guys determine who to send to federation tournaments being it's a team?
Posted By: David Burton

Re: McKinney Bass Club 2018 Schedule - 03/31/18 01:22 PM

In the 5 years I have been in the club we have not sent teams to TBF tournaments. We were going to try and work on it this year, but haven’t gotten around to it, and there hasn’t been much interest expressed in the membership due to timing and other commitments. If the interest is there this year, we may be able to send a team. Otherwise, I am hopeful we’ll have the interest in TBF Nationals going forward, and the timing won’t be an issue for qualified (to be determined) candidates.
