sufix 832

Anybody use this braid ?

Jason, it is an excellent braid with a very solid reputation. So are most of the lines (monofilaments, etc.) Sufix makes.

I use the 10 lbs. braid with a fluoro leader for finesse spinning tackle stuff.

You'd want a heavier test for a bait caster.

If you need a great mono, try the Sufix Elite. Really great mono.

It's one of my go to braided lines. I really prefer 8 carrier (strand) braided line.

The best I've found so far is Spiderwire Ultracast Ultimate braid. It keeps it color much longer than any braided line I've tried.

The new H2O Express braided line at Academy has been working quite well for me in the past month I've been fishing it.

One line I want to try but haven't yet is the new Diawa J-Braid.

I normally use 10-20 lb braid on my spinning reels and 20-30 on casting reels for fishing in N. Texas.

In the PNW I mainly used 50 lb braid for salmon and 65 for sturgeon.

It just seems like there are so many lines. The options are endless

I have used 832 for the last 5 years, best I have used so far, wish I could find more on close out as I did so at Walmart awhile back.

I prefer j braid over the 832 but the 832 is a great line

I really like it because it's almost silent when ur retreving your lure unlike .most other braids that sound like ur running piano wire through ur guides

The best I found until I tried Gliss which for me is #1 over all of them, the green color faded to silver gray but never break and casts better, get the 40 as the diameter is so small you will need a larger spool or use backing be very careful on knots as it is so slick

My preferred braid for freshwater. I got several bulk spools on sale at Cabela's a few years ago.

Suffix 832 is an excellent braid. As good or better than any I have used. Zero problems.

832 is my least favorite braid.

It gets too many wind knots and digs into the spool more than other lines.


It casts a country mile, though.

* As soon as I bumped into 65lb Excel Performance Braid, I was never looking around for another one: immaculate IMO.
But thinner diameters to my surprise where not as good exactly because of wind knots!
** Then it was another, intermediate task. 40 lb. Not much of a casting requirements, rather a good equal laying on a spool of relatively light conventional reel (cvz-300). My choice was Daiwa Samurai - very thin to withstand well to sea currents. But using it on a spinning setup(Cabo 40) turned to be a huge disappointment! Knots, knots, knots....
*** Long time ago I was going for Firelines for 15 and 17 lb (btw, casting distance was not bad at all!) But later decided to switch. Simplicity call (after trying couple other line) - 20lb Power Pro is good enough for me.
**** For a bit strange task - 4 or 5 lb - it was Power Pro again, but with an option for windy conditions - red Fireline is rock solid in a windy weather.
... couple large spinning reels (4500 - 5500) have 30 lb on them for a long time, mix of Suffix and Power Pro. Kind of "ok", works good enough.

There are number of very good braid out there. Having used most of them, 832 is as good or better than any of them.
