Bluegill in process

Bluegill in process - 10/09/15 02:54 PM

Haven't had any time to paint lures for a couple of months. Finally got all the honey do's and projects finished and was able to setup the painting bench again. Here's the first batch of DDRT 2.5's in the process of getting a bluegill pattern on them.

I need to spend some time over the winter to figure the gill patterns out, just looks tricky with all the colors sprayed over the scale mask. I been thinking about a ghost gill might have to give it a shot next week.

Bream patterns are the most detailed of all of them. Mostly hand mixed colors in several layers. The fun begins when detailing gill tabs and line spots...very time consuming...but, in the Spring bream pattern baits are worth all the effort texas

Yep...Norman Speed clip...I change baits a lot until I get onto something that works.

Eyes and details done...overnight in the dehydrator to set the paint.

Next step... clean up hook hangers and brush on some clearcoat.

Last step done...hook hangers cleaned and clearcoat applied...spun on a wheel to level the epoxy and then baked to a rock hard finish. Last stop for these bream will be a trip to the lake to make sure they run true texas.

Thanks...its a mix of orange and yellow sprayed thru small mesh. Over thinning sometimes allows the paint to load up a little giving a more realistic scale image.

Thanks Rocket...if my posts help get a few folks to try their hand at custom lure patterns then I've done well. This forum is a great place to post your work and share your ideas with some folks who share your passion for painting, building or pouring custom lures. Welcome aboard. texas
