Best east Tx lake to take kids fishing

Which lake is producing good numbers right now? Wanting to take the kids out on a good catching trip.. Any advice appreciated! We went to Richland last Sunday and never found any sandbass schooling but caught a few trolling.

Athens fish hatchery has a catfish pond that is catch and release and the kids will catch so many they will get tired of catching fish and they have a lot for kid to learn about fish.

You can take them trolling for spotted bass in Barefoot Bay of Lake Bob Sandlin and they will catch plenty of them, small but plentiful.

Lake Athens, Cedar Creek Lake, and Portis Creek State Park are all near the Texas Freshwater Fisheries center mentioned above.
