Hybrids around my area?

Hybrids around my area? - 03/01/16 03:16 PM

Seeing all the hybrids being caught makes me want to try for these jokers. I'm experienced at whites but not hybrids. Any place around LOP or surrounding area have hybrids? I think I remember as a child my dad catching them bellow the spillway at pines, not real sure though. Any help would be much appreciated.

Your best bet is going to be Lake Tawakoni. You want fish the eastside of the lake (east of two mile bridge). There are several humps and deep water near the dam were you can find them. I fish the lake for mostly crappie but know many who fish for hybrids. Search his section for hybrid fishing on Tawakoni to gather more information. Fishing for them is much like fishing for sandies. You just simply need to use larger gear. Many times you find sandies and hybrids running together. Goodluck.

guaranteed way to catch a hybrid, get size 6 treble hook, put on a chuck of chicken liver, and hold on. it is hard to cast, so you can let it dry out for 30 minutes or it will fall off hook. or drop it down side of boat.

You could catch in the feeder creeks of above mentioned lakes. Me and my buddy caught over 30 hybrids in last two weeks time frame. Most of them caught on 1/8 oz jig with 4" white swimming shad or fluke. Good luck

Twok has striper too along with lots of sandies and yellows, so be prepared to catch any of the true bass species. Honestly, hybrids follow a lot of the same patterns as sandies so if you know how to catch sandbass, you'll probably be able to find the striper and/or hybrids. And as mentioned above, feeder creeks will hold themes well, and the spillways below these lakes may hold them as well if the water is running.
