Is Lake Palestine any good for whites and hybrids? - 10/20/13 12:13 AM

I am new to the area. I am just wondering what to expect. I am always after a good bend in the rod with a kid.

I've been there 4 or 5 times and always manage to catch a good number of whites and a few hybrids. But there are only 3 or 4 spots where I've found fish. The best is old hwy 155 submerged highway and bridges. The submerged highway is about 10 yards south of and parallel to the 155 bridge that crosses the lake. Use your depth finder to locate the roadbed and submerged bridges. Fishing is best at the ends of the 3 submerged bridges. I swim a #2 Mepps spinner along the bottom of the bridges and even swim it over the bridge rails. A lot of white bass hang out around those submerged bridge rails. Hope this helps.

That does help. My girlfriend's dad keeps a boat stalled in a marina close to there. What time of year is that bite and how deep are those old bridge pilings?

When lake is full, the roadbed and bridges are about 15 ft deep with bridge rails sticking up about 3 ft on both sides of the bridges. The bite is good from spring through fall.

Right now I would go salt water fishing. Look shallow. Dennis is correct about the bridge but right now not so much.

When you live on the lake like Mo , you quit fishing.

I do the saltwater when I can. I stay down in Sargent and work on that slam under the lights. The power of the woman comes pulls me closer to Tyler.

I humbly suggest using the search function. Loads of good
info has been posted here in the past.

Lake Palestine , more than other lakes in the area ,
runs hot and cold. Catch it on a good day , fish seem to
be everywhere and eager to bite. On a bad day , you
can't buy a bite. It can go from a world class fishery to
the dead sea in a heartbeat.

On the positive side, It is almost full, and we are coming
it the time of year that fishing becomes easy , Just look for
the 3 b's .. Bait, Birds , and other Boats.

Just don't troll thru schooling fish . smile smile
