Ray Bob Sandies - 04/25/03 10:46 AM

I got into the Sand Bass Monday evening and plan to try it again Saturday evening. Are they still biting? Are the boat shows still showing the way?

I will also be out on Sat & Sun taking 25 cub scouts fishing. I will not have a lot of time to spend looking for fish. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Monte, where's Trinity Bay?

that is the big U-shaped area NW of the main lake point maybe 1/2 to 3/4 mile

Thanks birddog, I think I know where you're talking about. It must be my blasted AID map that's letting down

It isn't on the AID map, or the hot spot map. But it is on the Lake Products map. The AID map is my least favorite map. On the AID map it is just south of Fairview.

A Lake Products map is what I'm looking at too. I paid big bucks for a Hot Spots map and it is good but I find myself looking at the Lake Products map more often.

Chaser - Let us know if you put those cubs on the fish.

Tree_Bass - You gonna be out there today?

I'm workin midnights - gonna take a nap and head out there around 3PM

Thanks birddog, that clears it up. After your first post, I figured it was that thing that wasn't really a cove, it was more, of, say, some kind of a bay, and was right there near the Trinity. Okay, so sometimes I'm a little slow.

Monte, I wish I was going to be out there today, but alas, no fishing partners today. It seems as though the bass and sand bass both are doing quite well. *Sigh*

Hey Monte, how'd you do?

Re: Ray Bob Sandies - 04/28/03 09:31 AM

Well, I wound up at Trinity Bay again and this time the birds were schooling a bit. The chartreuce tailhummer was what they wanted most. My son did pretty well with it. He caught twice as many as I did. I was using a perl/chart tailhummer. We landed around 15 in about an hour and a half. I put a pic of exactly where we found em on my site.

Excellent map on your site, Monte, thanks a bunch.

Is The Sportsman Convienience Store that new one just west of the railroad tracks? I stopped by the sporting goods store in Denton one day to pick up some tailhummers. They were listed as a retailer on Tailhummer's website. When I walked in and finally got the rude old man's attention, he looked at me like I was from Mars when I asked if they had any tailhummers.

Thanks Tree_Bass - Yep thats the Sportsman just west of the RR tracks on 455. I stopped in there several months ago after finding them listed as a retailer on the tailhummer site. The owner happened to be the one I asked about the baits. He told me a story about the man that makes and markets the tailhummer asking him to sell em. The owner was skeptical and just gave him one peg figuring he would be stuck with them forever. When the owner sold out within days he called the tailhummer guy asking him to restock several pegs ASAP.

I'll be fishin again Thursday evening if the rain doesn't ruin it. Got my bag-of-bolts suburban working again so my frustration level should be limited to fishing.
