Lewisville Sunday Evening - 06/29/03 03:42 AM

I just spend t graet days pulling water toys on PK. That was great but it is time to stretch some fishing lines! I'm gonna try to get to Lewisville tomrrow afternoon, evening. Is ther any topwater bite on late? Should I try to find some shad after 3:00 PM so I can try for some of those Hybrids?? Where can I expect to find shad in the afternoon? I've paid a bunch of dues this week. Hope to find some fish tomorrow.

Had a great time, most things considered. I am going to write a seperate post about the absolute jerks with BIG boats on Lewisville.
Got on the lake about 4:00 and found about 25 6" to 7" shad on the western bank of Lakewood Village. Headed for Deadman's Point to try to find something working. Did some trolling with Jet/ Pet and caught about 10 great Sandies but nothing concentrated. Stayed there too long. By the time I got to where you were it was nearly over but we slabbed a bunch of nice sandies.
Did get on 6 pounf Hybrid on our shad which was our real target for the day. The real surprise and fun was a 22 pound channel cat that I got on my slab. Seemed like he should have hit the live shad but it was an awesome pull on the line and worth the whole trip. I was the last to leave there and then right at sunset we slabbed up some mpre nice sandies off of twin trees point. I was in the 18' red/silver fish n ski with a 115 mariner. Very low profile. I guess we were there at the same time. Wish I would have known who you were. Thanks tp you and brian b for your posts here and of course to Brian Garrett who got me started on the live bait thing. I have been fishing pretty regular since I was 7 years old and I will be 52 this summer. I really appreciate this forum. It has led me to learn a lot of new things in the last year and a half.
This forum is a great blessing to me. Thanks to all who continue to give informative reports.

Good job on getting that 6 lb hybrid. I know how much patience it takes to keep the bait down and lively when all that sand bass action is taking place and you are wanting to chase after the schools. I got two 7 lb hybrids this morning on large bluegill under a huge area of topwater sandies near the gravel pits. Again, top water was wide open all over the lower lake. Most areas of top water did not have larger fish biting, but the last area over trees produced the 2 hybrids. I also got a 20 lb+ channel cat today on a large bluegill!
